Re: Damper Filling
I have always found that by 70,000 miles Boge dampers (as used for standard BMW suspension) have lost most of their gas filling, and the ride quality is rather joggly. I prefer Bilstein Sprintline above all else, finding that it gives the best combination of ride and handling ever experienced. Expe...

Re: The overall picture
Ligter flywheels etc improve throttle response, but don't make much real difference to acceleration - the total vehicle weight and the power/torque characteristics of the engine are the important things here. Larger wheels will not make any difference, unless we are talking about an increase in the...

One point to remember is that the through road through Dartmoor (north/south , east/west) is mainly 40mph all the way, for good reason. There will be pony's and sheep all over the main road. Oops, i forgot to mention that, musn't break the speed limit, alternatively the wildlife make interesting bo...

FWIW, I had the ///M on a rolling road the other day. 255.7BHP at the wheels with a 31.9 Transmission loss makes just under 288BHP for what is supposed to be a 325BHP motor. The fan used to cool the engine did its job, but was nothing like the airflow at even 30mph. Add that to a 32 degree ambiant ...
