I love my 2.0 and bought it because for my budget it allowed me to get a late model with lots of extras and low miles etc...but very, very, occasionally it's just not quite fast enough. That said, I'd rather have a spanky looking 2.0 than a knackered looking 2.8 for the same money...

55 litre tank? I think mine must be way less than that as £35's worth is about the most petrol you can squeeze in.

(and yes, the first time the light came on was when I started it from cold that day so literally 2 miles before we ran out!)

Well there's a first time for everything. Turns out when the fuel light goes on I really do need to fill up! I thought it would give you more warning! Two miles from a cold start (on my way to the petrol station I might add) we had to coast into a parking space...Luckily one short bus ride and petro...

Thanks folks. I find my Z is slightly disappointing off the lights (in that I get cars I think should be much slower keeping up) but much better on the 30-50 and motorway speed acceleration. Of course it could just be my driving...!

how fast am I?

anybody know the 0-60mph time for a 2000 model 2.0 ? my mate is sure his new Suzuki Swift GTi is faster - but that can't be right. I have of course told him I don't care if it is faster it's still not as good as my z...but I'd still like to know....cheers

right all sorted! Was the frayed wiring on the loom which goes from the boot to the high level brake light causing a drain apparently. Have no idea why that should be the case, and nor did the guy at the garage as the guy who is the electrical specialist who actually did the job had left for the day...

so last week I put a new battery in the car (or rather had somebody else put a new battery in - but let's not start that one again...) Left the car for five days - tried to start it today - dead battery. Any thoughts on causes please why this should happen twice in 2 weeks and after a whole new batt...

yep alarm seems fine. It went off when the car was jump started but turned off with the remote. It didn't go off at all when the new battery went in. Seems fine now. I just called HR Owen and got the radio code - interesting to note they gave it to me with just the number plate and no name or id! So...

cheers mate I already called HR Owen who are supposed to be calling me back with the radio code. Of course they haven't done yet...

Will let you know how my DIY effort goes. If you hear on the news somebody has blown up a Z3 in London tomorrow then you'll know how it happened...

sorry just read Robert's reply properly. My alarm's the sort you can turn off by putting the key in the ignition.

So in that case I'll start with removing the connections and not deal with the back up siren.

When you say the "round key" what key do you mean? I have two remote control ignition keys and that's all.

Just spotted that the high level brake light in the boot isn't working at all. I'm thinking that as all the lights within it have gone out it's a fuse or something rather than a bulb? Any ideas folks?

Hello - another alarm problem! Basically a couple of times my remote locking hasn't worked - you plip the plipper and nothing happens. Happens when both locking or unlocking the car. At first I thought the battery on the plipper must be going. But tried the spare key and it's done it a few times too...

thanks guys - blimey it looks like they saw me coming. This was central London 2 mins from home so I guess I pay a bit more for the convenience. Apparently he had to take the wheels off to fix the handbrake?...oh well it's done now!

Was £237 for an oil service, tinkering with the hand brake and an MOT. Thought that could have been worse... (this was a local garage) Was told the rear tyres are on their way out which is a pain - think I'll just try and replace the rears only - though wont mix types - have read the tyre threads on...

annoyingly the light's stopped working...has anybody changed the bulb before? Do you just prise off the light cover or is there some magic to it? It's just that the cover doesn't look like it wants to be prised off. Zac the Zed is having a service and MOT today so fingers crossed it's not too pricey...

folks what do we think is the best method of removing the green slimey stuff that you get around the bottom of the hood? I know there's the hood conditioner treatment thing, but I was thinking more of a rountine cleaning trick?

Ah I see thanks Andy. Right what I'm going to do then is change the oil now as that hasn't been done since June 04, but then wait until I get an INSPECTION light come on before I take it in for an Insp 2.

thanks a lot Mike, I'll have it done. So, how does re-setting the lights change things? I thought they were just indicative of what's going on in the engine, but it sounds as if you were saying that doing it would improve performance?

Also, how will I know when it needs an Isp 2 service?

yes that's for a master key which has a remote/alarm thingy. They also offered me a wallet key (tiny bit of plastic) which was £17...said no!

yep my 2.0 does something like that in heavy stop start traffic. When coming to a stop the revs sometimes seem to fluctuate. only does it for a few seconds and then sorts itself out. think I'll not worry about it until/unless it gets worse!
