wont start and about to ruin my weekend away!
Hello folks We have a starting problem... Normally one turn of the key and my 2000 2.0 fires into action. Today the starter is turning and the battery seems fine, but the starter motor's just making a weird noise and the engine's not firing. Was fine when I drove it two days ago. It's got one green ...

Any idea why the other part of the boxed area (which isn't shaded in these pictures) is there? cheers ps thanks for the tips. I'm off to France too (low(ish) carbon non flying h...

embarrasingly ran out of pertrol...!
Well there's a first time for everything. Turns out when the fuel light goes on I really do need to fill up! I thought it would give you more warning! Two miles from a cold start (on my way to the petrol station I might add) we had to coast into a parking space...Luckily one short bus ride and petro...

anybody know the 0-60mph time for a 2000 model 2.0 ? my mate is sure his new Suzuki Swift GTi is faster - but that can't be right. I have of course told him I don't care if it is faster it's still not as good as my z...but I'd still like to know....cheers

right all sorted! Was the frayed wiring on the loom which goes from the boot to the high level brake light causing a drain apparently. Have no idea why that should be the case, and nor did the guy at the garage as the guy who is the electrical specialist who actually did the job had left for the day...

Been having some electrical trouble (see post below re battery) and so borrowed my brother's new VW Polo this weekend. First thing I noticed is it's like sitting upstairs on a bus - you feel about 10 feet higher than in a zed. Second thing I noticed is - oh my god it's so much more comfortable! The ...

thanks for all your replies. I took the car into the local garage today and he's getting a specialist electrics man to look at it. They're going to fix the frayed wiring and change the bonnet switch as well as fixing the drain. I don't mind changing the battery as it was only £60 and probbaly wou;ld...

so last week I put a new battery in the car (or rather had somebody else put a new battery in - but let's not start that one again...) Left the car for five days - tried to start it today - dead battery. Any thoughts on causes please why this should happen twice in 2 weeks and after a whole new batt...

yep alarm seems fine. It went off when the car was jump started but turned off with the remote. It didn't go off at all when the new battery went in. Seems fine now. He came and jump started the car. (which took several gos and some weird noises and lots of chugging as the battery was totally d...

Hello I know nothing about the oily bits of cars. This morning for no apparent reason the battery's dead on the Z. Weird as I drove 200 motorway miles last weekend but haven't touched it since and must have left something on (though I cant see what). Anyway, brother in law suggests buying a battery ...

Just spotted that the high level brake light in the boot isn't working at all. I'm thinking that as all the lights within it have gone out it's a fuse or something rather than a bulb? Any ideas folks?
Thanks

I have decided that the general public hate my z. I think I told you that somebody chucked a milkshake at me once (roof down), hoodies have shouted "why don't you get a Z4 it's better" and the other day, a Porsche Cayenne driver wound down his window to inform me that my car is s**t and hi...

95 Ron or the super stuff?
Hello, just wondered:-
Do people use normal unleaded or super unleaded? Do we think the super is worth the extra cash? Would I notice any difference in my occasional trips out of the grid lock in my 2.0?
hmmmmm

Hello - another alarm problem! Basically a couple of times my remote locking hasn't worked - you plip the plipper and nothing happens. Happens when both locking or unlocking the car. At first I thought the battery on the plipper must be going. But tried the spare key and it's done it a few times too...

am I tramlining?
Hello. I've heard people talk about tramlining, which I think is when the car drifts across the lane (on a say a motorway) following the grooves made in the road buy heavy lorries. I've noticed a couple of times at about 70mph on a motorway the car seems to drift and feel a bit unsteady. Trouble is ...

Was £237 for an oil service, tinkering with the hand brake and an MOT. Thought that could have been worse... (this was a local garage) Was told the rear tyres are on their way out which is a pain - think I'll just try and replace the rears only - though wont mix types - have read the tyre threads on...

annoyingly the light's stopped working...has anybody changed the bulb before? Do you just prise off the light cover or is there some magic to it? It's just that the cover doesn't look like it wants to be prised off. Zac the Zed is having a service and MOT today so fingers crossed it's not too pricey...
