Couple of things to consider when replacing a fan belt Make sure you have the correct belt. As pointed out there are two and one is slightly smaller and is not going to fit if you get them the wrong way round. The fixing tabs break very easily if the securing stud is over tightend. Finger tight with threadlock is fine. A set of the correct sized "threaded plugs" have been ordered from BMW Germany @ £7.50. The respective Torx screws are no longer available from BMW but generic stainless studs and washers are widely available.

The bluetooth interface kit looks like a good solution, however the problem with the Z1 is the severe lack of usable space to fit additional ICE. The CD43 will fit the Z1, just. When (if) it fails the Blaupunkt Bremen would be the replacement of choice. I still have the original 30 year old speakers...
