Microswitch is usually the first thing to go, which cuts the power. It's above the passenger window in the hood frame. Check at the hood motor for power being applied when an assistant is holding the button and the footbrake.

Interesting to see Estocks advocating a strut brace to cure tramlining. My V reg 2 litre tramlined like crazy when I bought it but I knew it needed tyres. One set of tyres and new (standard) rear swing arm bushes later and all trace of tramlining was gone. However the car does not feel as 'planted'...

Yes. Strut brace will sort that. Etech (~£115), StrongStrut (~£300), Cosmo (~£115) are all tried and tested.

The hood is in no way related to the stereo, and is not nessasdary to disconnect the hood, even when fitting a large multi-speaker system. The gear knob is a friction fit. Perhaps you are not clicking it back into place fully or it is worn and needs replacing. Consider a Storm Motorwerkz.

Roof cleaner is just washing powder and water. After all, it's just a sheet of cloth like any other.

The protector on the other hand I found the turtle wax one washed away in the rain far quicker than Renovo.

Sounds like you are doing the right thing.

Odd how you reset the inspection lamp in 7 seconds.
Grounding pin seven (7) for approximately twelve (12) seconds will do an inspection service reset.

I think the fluid light turns off when you reset for <10seconds. Try using a running stopwatch to ensure your timing is correct.

You are right, COM1 is occupied. Right click the hardware com port and select properties/advanced. Set it to COMSomethingElse.
