It's been a while
Hi everyone, It's been a while since I put my Z in hibernation, but she's now out of storage and I'm getting her back out on the road. Having looked through the posts on the forum since I left I can see there's been some new additions to the ranks, hi to you all and I hope that you're enjoying being...

Be careful as some of the sub-£50 covers have cheap linings fitted, I've regretted fitting one last winter as the lining rubbed against the paintwork and left quite a few areas of scratches. Unless you don't mind this or spending 2-3 hours correcting the damage I'd suggest you take a look at the mon...

Take a look at the Autoglym roof kit for the cleaning side of things (in Halfords), it comes with a hard scrubbing sponge which is perfect for getting rid of the green mould but don't use the roof proofer until you apply a coating or two of Renovo roof fabric dye available from: http://www.renovoint...

Taken from this thread: http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31990 .....you can't just buy a key off ebay for your Z3 as BMW make the transponder key for your car the car cannot be programmed to the key. Re: Paintwork Scratches
Have you tried "T-cut" polish? It used to be good at getting out minor scratches in paintwork. It used to be in common use but it really does more damage than it repairs. Try Autoglym Super Resin Polish as it contains abrasives that breakdown in size as you rub it in leading to a much smo...

6 cyl engines have a cam chain, and definately worth going for over a 4 cyl in my humble opinion (others will disagree) I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. Having owned both a 1.9 16v and 2.0 I'd stick with the 2.0 (6 cylinder) if given the choice. The exhaust note and burble is what does i...

Untreated Fuel molecules tend to clump together due to the attraction between molecules with charges of opposite polarities. As an example, Petrol contains mainly hydrocarbons ranging from butane (C4H10) to octane (C8H18). Said hydrocarbons exist in a state where the electron charge of each molecul...

You may want to check the fuel tank mounting brackets as these can lose padding causing a full tank of fuel to be a bit squeaky/clunky when you go over bumps in the road. Another issue may be the rear shock absorber mounts, worth checking as these do tend to be a weak point in the Z3. Cat = catalyti...

However, rather than guessing get a diagnostic run on it - it may save you alot of time and expense. +1 The sensor you are describing is the camshaft sensor, are you sure you have the right diagnosis as to the fault you're experiencing? Sounds like good old tramlining which the Z3 commonly encounters. If you do a search on the forum for tramlining you'll find quite a few solutions that others have posted up. One way I have found to limit this effect is to reduce the pressure in the tyres to 30 psi, in 18 inch tyres this is sufficie...

For the rough running, take a look at the maf sensor, camshaft position sensors and the exhaust sensors. Also worth checking are the rubber air intake hoses running to the throttle body from the airfilter box, they perish over time, split and cause running issues. It sounds a lot like the Cam sensor...
