Yup - it's nuts, but then if you look at the lower priced z4's coming down from above it's not suprising really.BenZ3-2.0 wrote:£3K Crazy! to put in perspective i just sold a 2000 Ford KA for £1750???
5'er looks cool.
Good thing is that in a year or so when I want to buy another one, or two, for nothing!

Sold - £3k dead. Very sad to see it drive away :bawl: Could've probably got a couple of hundred quid more if I'd been patient, but I was planning to part-ex it for my new car when someone crashed into me so went ahead with the new car anyway and have been carrying the balance rather painfully, so it...

Sorry to see you selling the Z, Ben. What's next on the horizon as a replacement? Yeah I'm going to be really sad to see it go - took it for a short drive yesterday and still loved it despite having been driving an e60 545i (that's the new car) around for the last 2 weeks! I wish I could afford to ...

Soon to be leaving the world of Zed :(
I've finally bowed to the sensible pressure and got a car with four seats. (Which is really what I need) Managed to keep a small taste of impractical and fun motoring by getting a 545i, but I'm sure going to miss my little blue zed when it's gone. Keep trying to work out how I can afford to keep it,...

Re: A reminder of why I love my car!
A true V engine Is it? I thought it was an "inline V" engine, like the VR6, W8 and W12 engines, where they are either a very narrow V engine, or a staggered inline, depending on how you define them? Although the W variants open up another definition can of worms - are they a staggered V o...

A reminder of why I love my car!
I sent the zed off for an inspection 1 yesterday (customwerks, near heathrow - would highly recommend them), chap who came to collect the car left me with a VW Golf V5 (2.3l) of the 97-2004 generation. A nice metallic black, glistening in the rain. Interesting, I thought. A true V engine, a very wel...

Unfortunately prices have been plummeting - for all cars. You need to put it on at under £5,000 if you want to sell it. For comparison you can get an e46 330CI with below average mileage for £6,000, and a 328CI for £4.5... An E60 530i can be had for less than 10k. Hope that puts things into perspect...

Aaah you've got such a fun job coming!!! You need to remove the stereo, then undo a big screw at the top of the heater controls and the bottom or the stereo hole, then the thing just swings out (well, back in actually) and you maneouver it up to the stereo hole so you can get at the bulbs! Right - had my 452's fitted this morning. First impressions: 1. Ride quality - hitting a manhole cover/speedbump/rough patch used to be like being dropped from 50 feet. The falkens are like being tapped with a rubber mallet. 2. Tyre noise - less of it. Those P6000s were truly w**k - I send my thanks...

I don't think the M roadster has a spare at all, it just has an air compressor supplied, because the double exhausts take up all the room of the spare. There are lots of cars supplied without spare wheels now. I guess for cost saving and improved co2 output. Long gone are the days of a full size sp...

Spare wheel strategies
My nail incident got me thinking... Given that I was a) unable to get the flat off the hub and b) that if I was not at home, there is sweet FA that you can do with the wheel anyway would it be a stupid idea to ditch the spare, jack and wrench to save a huge amount of weight, increase performance and...

2 nails in tyre :O
Went out to wash and wax on sat morning to find a totally flat offside rear. Tried to change to the spare, but couldn't get the wheel off the hub (common problem I feel) so had to call the AA. He pumped me up and off I went to kwik fit, who found a nail and a screw in the tyre, the nail being close ...

Sticking Handbrake - any tips?
I'm getting brake squeel when trundling slowly from the nearside rear on long stop start drives (live in london). Once it starts it gets quite bad. Gently pulling the handbrake stops it squeeling, which makes me think that the handbrake is binding on that side. I think pressing the footbrake doesn't...

What do you pay for an inspection 1?
I've been quoted £200-£225 + VAT, which I think might be on the expensive side

Re: Serious
The OEM roll hoops are really serious, BMW once having an advert for the Z3 showing one with a Seven series saloon resting on top of the roll bars and windscreen. The hoops were not always fitted, because the forged steel windscreen frame is designed to provide the mandatory roll-over protection re...

I use mine whenever I'm going to have the roof down for anything longer than a short trip and I'm sure it's not going to rain :nerd: If you put it so that it sits right up near the front (away from the back of the car) then it doesn't take up too much room.
