WD40 over the mechanism and up around the door handles should get evrything slip 'n' sliding no probs.

Silver Colour Verification

I have a 1.9 Z3 2001. I have been looking to verify the colour. Being silver I wanted to make sure 100% that it is 'Titanium Silver' and not 'Artic Silver'. I can't actually find a plate on the car that confirms this but I believe Titanium replaced Artic pre 2000. Can anyone confirm this is the case...

The other thing I will say is there are 2 brown wires. As they all broke, I didn't know which should be connected to which, maybe it doesn't matter or I came up lucky on the 50/50 as it all seems to be working ok.

Well guys thank you for all your help. Spent this morning reconnecting the every wire in the loom using butt connectoers. Rrplaced a couple of 5amp fuses and a 30amp fuse that had blown and hey presto. Central locking, power hood, bootlid brake light, interior bootlight, petrol cap security, and ala...

Looking at the break its about 2 inches under where the cable enters the boot. TBH it doesn't look the ideal place to put in a joint of sorts as it would likely catch on closing the bootlid etc. Any stories of how people have overcome similar problem would be interesting to hear about. Cheers, To be more specific it is the wiring on the top left of the boot going into the bootlid. Its snapped right on the bend and seems to be 'the' common fault. So you reckon I shoudl just buy that item there, crimp each wire end into the crimp connect and insulate with tape or do they just connec...

Replacing the bottlid wiring loom

Has anyone had any experience of replacing the bootlid wiring loom? I have had no brake light or power hood for sometime and now I notice the whole cable has snapped in half. Im quite happy to go about repairing or replacing it myself, so any advice would be appreciated. Also does anyone have any Z3...

My Z3 gear stick knob has some reason cracked. I have one of those silver and black two peice ones. Obviously Ill have to buy a new one but does anyone know how to remove the old one.

Thanks guys. had prolem with the back light too so supect possibly a loom problem. Wondered if its best to cut the origonal loom back and just instert a new length on cable to the boot brake lid light and boot light, as you say using spade clips to join them.

Looks like my boot lid brake light has gone. Any suggestion on quick fixs....if not BMW are quoting £82 the part. Does that sound right to you guys?

Well the loom looks ok and I assume the rear light should have nothing to do with fuse 7 blowing....must be a differnt circuit surely?

Guys good news in he respects that I managed to turn the screw in th e boot to disabled the motor...will be going over the wiring of the loom at today or tomorrow.

Fuses are ok to the Power Roof. I think its only fuse No.1 here. Tried WD40 on the first micro switch but to no avail. Will try disabling the motor. I thought I read that BMW have to reenable it though...or can that be done by simply turning the screw the other way again?

25 amp fuse and 5 amp fuse had gone. 25 amp replaced ok...but the 5 amp fuse immeadiately blows every time.

I would think that it would be unlikely that both actuators and the boot wouldn't open. Therefore I reckon it must be something more to do with either the signal not being received (as the key indicates is sending the signal via the red light going on and off), the motor failing, a wiring stroke fus...

Well lets hope cleaning the micro switch works guys in that case!!! Any suggestions after that? Can the automatic roof be opened and closed as a manual by disablingthe motor in the luggage compartment or that that only suugested to close a roof that fails when already down? Z3 Seat Belts Problems

On the passenger side, the seat belt has become tangled within the casing on the retract mechanism behind the seat....simply plulling the seat belt right out and trying to resolve the problem doesn't seem to work. Has anyone here got any ideas as to how to get into the casing to resolve this problem...
