I have 1 x new set of EBC redstuff front and 2x sets redstuff rears for a good price if you want.

yes the engine fan on the front of the block-water pump.
hopefully it been done because its a pain to do at home, if the fan blade at the top moves abit ie; 1/2 inch the water pumpneeds checking

Regarding engine noise should check the water pump as mine was completly kaput by 80k miles . Grab the top of the fan and give it a good wiggle - should not move.

The gear knob thing - buy a new one (and boot) , I did and a new steering wheel ...good for another 80.000 now

the 235's didnt work out as the 45 profile is worked out on width of the tyre making them look more like 50 profile with the incresed width.
