I have never heard of anyone having problems with the Z3 diffs, and each of these cars have now had at least 12 MOTs.

Success! I have successfully removed the starter motor from the BMW Z3 1.9L M44 4 cylinder engine without removing the manifold. I will write up in detail about the procedure soon. swap the parts back and sell as original then sell on the extras. More money to be made that way from people that are actually looking for the extras. I paid £45 for a secondhand ABS ECU unit, and coded it myself with a £30 Inpa/NCS setup from eBay.
Its easy.

£130 is the price of a smart repair which is what you got. Normally £250 ish for a full bumper.
I wouldn't blame the garage unless they specifically told you they would do the whole bumper at that price, or if you had asked for it to be done.

Have you checked the fluid level?
try the steering with the engine on, then with it off, there should be a distinct difference.

That is a convincing No. Darn I may be in for £130 then... Maybe, so total cost will be £160, and job being done twice. Some things of BMW are not the best, and don't last long so aftermarket is good,, but if they have been on for 20 years before a problem then an original is a good idea. Anything ...

how come you removed the hydraulic pump?
the abs ECU just unbolts with 4 bolts with no loss of fluid or need to bleed the brakes? the fault is normally just a dry joint with the eco

I have never needed a power supply when doing diagnostics or coding with INPA and NCSexpert for the ABS module. Current draw is very low, and it usually doesnt take very long. Battery will last hours on diagnostics provided everything else is not being used. turn off heater fans, lights etc etc firs...

my opinion is that after removing the throttle body to fit the cable, the round plug was not fitted correctly resulting in all the codes and problems, A subsequent refit of a new TB saw it connected properly. the electronics are only for the idle control valve and it was expected that this should just have reset to the original default values but it hasn't. the M52tu indeed has a hybrid control,..... yes its cable throttle, but its an electronically controlled motorised throttle too, The electronics are...

the high idle speed is not just incorrect adjustment of the new cable is it? holding the throttle sightly open?

unfortunately on my model the 1.8, the engine management light comes on as amber and says in the manual that it is the lambda sensor. I have had this verified by having the code read at the garage and it does back up the manuals statement that the fault is with the lambda sensor Check all the vacuu...

pump fault 71 is usually the ECU on the pump itself, 4little torx bolts and the unit comes off without any fluid escaping or the need to bleed it,
Get a working one from a scrapper for about £50 and code it, or get it refurbished for about £200.

Viscous fan. I took one off my Range Rover diesel, and many people remove them from BMWs (mine never had one). Avoids the fan exploding and destroying everything in it's path, plus puits less pressure on the water pump bearing. Z3s have an aux fan that is more than capable of doing the job. only on...
