Question about immobiliser
I was driving today and the car jolted quite a few times. I was driving slowly then just to get home (around the corner). I slowed on one corner and the car cut out. Then it would turn over, but not start, tries about 6 times. I checked the battery and the negative terminal was loose. I tightened it...

In the link to the guide on how to do this...Any reason he says to remove the air bag?
Surely this doesn't need to be done if you don't have side airbags? (I don't)

With the better weather coming up this should be a good time to sell. I am going to be selling mine in the summer to maximise what I can get for it. As far as i'm aware it won't fit.

It could be the imobiliser. I would get someone with the right testing equipment to have a look at it such as the AA or mobile mechanic Let us know how you get on Heath on Tapatalk Not meaning to cross the two topics into one, but I have the car starting now. Re: Replacing the Fuel Pump on a 1.9
I disconnected the battery earlier, after half an hour re-connected and the car has started.... I can't think of a reason why this would make a difference. I still can't hear the fuel pump priming when I turn the ignition to ON, yet i'm sure in the past it's been easily noticeable, because I always ...

Replacing the Fuel Pump on a 1.9
Does anybody here have much experience replacing the fuel pump on the Z3? It looks pretty simple to do, however: - I have just over 1/4 of a tank of petrol in there - I read I need to syphon it out until it's below 1/8th. Is this necessary? - Once I cut back the carpet and get to the pump, it looks ...

Re: Rear screen replacement
Must get mine done in time for the summer, when I will unfortunately be looking to sell my Z3 after years of fun. I was putting bags into the back of the roof around Christmas and stuffed a little to much in there which caused it to crack :-( Been making do with some tape on it for now, but it looks...

Re: Take out glovebox to get to Fuel Pump Relay?
I located the correct relay, realised the same type of relay is used in two other places, under the bonnet. So tried swapping it out with both of these 2 and it's made no difference. Looks like it's going to be something a bit more costly :head: I think i'll need to look at the fuel pump, but unfort...

Re: Take out glovebox to get to Fuel Pump Relay?
I did see that thanks. However...I was being a bit dim. I saw "Left Hand Side" and assumed it meant left hand side how we in the UK would think of it. It is written as for a LHD model, so LH actually means drivers side in this case. I've located the relay, so now just got to try and find a...

Re: Take out glovebox to get to Fuel Pump Relay?
The lid lists the fuses, but unfortunately not what the relays are. Just fuses 1 - 46. I've checked the fuses for the fuel pump and they are fine, but what people have described as the location of the relay doesn't look like it contains relays. Mucho confused now. The car is a 1997 1.9 if anybody ha...

Re: Take out glovebox to get to Fuel Pump Relay?
I thought the relays were under the bonnet at the rear RH side with the fuses. there are relays with the fuses. But based on a few BMW forums, the fuel pump relay on the Z3 is actually behind the glovebox. Of course, those people could be wrong. Not sure how to identify what the ones under the bonn...

Help with 3-series wash jet problem? (Sprays for a few secs)
Hi, I have a problem with a 3-series, as opposed to my Z3. When squirting the washer fluid, it comes out for a few seconds, but then stops. This is cause for an MOT failure. The pump seems to be working, and continues to spin if you hold down the wiper stalk, the water sprays fine for about 2 second...

Re: clattering inside the car on a rough road.
Check the long bolt that secures the battery in place.
I didn't tighten mine properly and it sounded like the noise was coming from within the car, it was just this bolt rattling around as it wasn't tight enough.
Worth a check.

Sounds like your garage are afraid of quality cars, should have taken a ford escort to them. You can get the bracket re-welded, and its fairly easy to change the sidelights just unscrew change bulb and re fit, how difficult can that be  Right just need to find a welder in Manchester then. Hi, I took my 1.9 Z3 for an MOT and it has failed for a few small things but also because the exhaust "is not properly supported". I was suprised when the guy at the garage told me i'd have to go to BMW to have it done...I think he's talking rubbish and they just couldn't be bothered with ...

I'm pulling my hair out over this. Just came back to trying to fix my boot after a few months since I gave up.
