Z3 MAF disconnected, implications?

My 2000 Z3 2.8 has just come back from its Inspection 2 service and one of the notes was that they found the Mass AirFlow sensor had been unplugged, presumably due to another issue found, a crack in the intake bellows. Haven't eyeballed it myself yet, but I presume they mean part 13541435627 (part #...

Have you ever had the vanos seals replaced on your 2.8?

Its something I'm considering at the 75k mark this year, as consumption hasn't been great for me recently (and I get the coughing/stalling idle problem when starting from cold)

Z3 2.8 - 1, Badger - 0

Driving up to my folks in north Essex on Friday night, had an adult badger (real big f****r) run out into the B-road just as I passed at 50mph. Didn't even have time to brake, and it went straight under the middle! Think the badger survived the initial impact but not the subsequent SUV that passed a...

Woo, v. cheap, but you still have to pay someone for an hour to fit them :-) Yeah, that 300 miles thing is probably a good idea. I had a bit of a squirrelly moment when pulling around a cyclist on the way home, probably did nothing for the state of his underwear! Think some McGard's are the way forw...

Just had 4 x Falken 452s fitted by Event Tyres - revelation!

Just had four new FK452 225/50/16 fitted to my 2.8 by Event-tyres.co.uk's mobile van, for only £314. And the change is fantastic, the mismatched tyres it came with when I bought it a year ago, must have been the source of most of my tramlining and judder problems, with the new Falkens, its a much sm...

:sunny Gearbox applause and fuel-mileage thoughts :sunny

Seriously loving 5th gear at the moment, I just can't get enough of the fact that it does 30-140mph without any complaints whatsoever! Excellent for frugal town cruising. Incidentally, I've been through a few tanks of fuel since I got my 2.8 a couple of months ago. Miles covered per tank, in chronol...

Upgrading alloy wheels 16" -> 17"

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice on wheel upgrades, and need some help understanding sizes. I took my new 2000 Z3 to Protyre in Eastleigh the other week, and they did a pretty good job of aligning it, for only £30. Apparently laser four wheel alignment systems are old hat, and camera systems ar...

WOOHOO! V. happy new 2.8 owner :-)

Hey guys, I'm now a fully paid up member of the Z3 owning community, picked up my 2000 Dark Green Z3 2.8 this afternoon, and it is fantastic! So proud :-) It was very hard to resist bracing my right foot against the floor every time the road opened up in front of me on the way home. Although I am qu...

That's the badger! I didn't link to it initially in case I was gazumped! Just been for another test drive this morning, a 70kmile 2000 2.8 model, it was much nicer! about £1500 more too, so will need some serious consideration. It also had a tendency to veer slightly from the straight line, so I thi...

Thanks for the comments guys, you've been really insightful. Things sound good on the reliability front, and thanks for that number AW8! Even if it is £1/min :shock: I think, if the miles and dates from the servicing dealership(s) tally up, I wouldn't be too bothered about the missing service histor...

Looking to buy a Z3 2.8 for £4,695, a good deal?

Hey forum, I've just joined and wouldn't mind some opinions. I'm looking to get rid of my trusty under-powered first car Peugeot 106 and have settled on the Z3 2.8 as a fine replacement. I just drove one today, and I'm really tempted, but I'd like some advice as to whether its a good deal! Its a S-r...
