re-using the old bolts :head: :head: :head: :head: :head: :) Just to be clear - I researched and took advice from the engineering types I know, and my preferred mechanic advised replacement with ARP bolts before I'd even raised that as a discussion point for the work. There were plenty arguing the ...

I had Phil Crouch at CPC replace the shells on my S54 coupe last year as I had the budget and the opportunity to get it sorted - bought mine at just under 13000 miles in 2009 and had the work done at about 30000. No indications there was a problem - just figured it got rid of one of big risks. I nee...

I purchased the S54 M3 recall kit and saw the tangs on the shells - I'd assumed the shells when they 'span' rotated solely within the circle of the conn-rod parts that enclosed them so couldn't figure out how when I saw the tangs Most pictures of wear seem to show evidence on the inside of the shell...

Bought my first Z3 M as an AUC at a few quid more than a private sale and had water pump fail, brakes issue, front suspension turret cracks, exhaust manifold replacement and a problem with the drivers window moto...

I can't see how a conrod bolt can 'stretch'. More likely they would fail and you would have catestrophic engine failure. You would only get a problem with the rods if the engine had been over-revved. Do you think it ever has been? IIRC wasn't this was the debate the S54 engined coupe owners had wit...

Hey Yadi, weren't on the A339 Friday evening about 5pm going towards the M3 were you? Saw an M-coupe flashing past in the other direction, don't see many of them in our neck of the woods! Hi wonderloaf, could well have been me (considerately flashing past in the opposite direction hopefully) One of...

Any recommendations for indie to do the bearing shell job?
(apologies to anyone who's seen my matching post over at Z3MCoupe.com ) Ever since I bought the S54 coupe I've had the con rod bearing shell fix job on my list of things to do when I had cashflow. Based on reading the threads here and elsewhere about how best to proceed I'm going to opt to have some...

Bank Holiday visitor to one of my neighbours (have a suspect but can't prove it) rubbed the left rear of my bumper whilst leaving their parking spot. I had noticeable changes at 2500rpm in terms of linear delivery of power on both my S50 and S54 m coupes. The S50 had a number of issues to resolve one of which was an inlet manifold. The S54 showed throttle actuator errors on a diagnostics check which seemed to be the cause. Luckily on the latter t...

Add me to the list of been there and done that - two months into owning my S50 MC. Hello
Hi everyone from an imminent new owner.
I'm picking up my 2000 Z3MC from the dealer on Saturday morning freshly serviced and booked next week off from work to enjoy it
Thanks to all those whose hints I used to build a checklist in preparation for my purchase.
