Talking as a chemist (Yes, really) the major constituents of petrol are not polar molecules so applying a magnetic field across petrol will do absolutely nothing.

Interesting thread this one. Several years ago I bought a 749 Ducati with only one key. That key had a chip in it and my local Ducati dealer said that nothing could be done about getting me a replacement and quoted me hundreds of pounds to supply new keys, locks and an Engine Management Unit (coded ...

Broken fog lamp
Hi guys, Whilst driving home through the Essex lanes a few evenings ago I saw something shoot out of the hedge and immediately felt a thump on the car. The thump has to be described as the noise made by a 30 mph Z3 hitting a Pheasant. Poor bird. It must have had one hell of a headache in the morning...

2.8 Differential oil level
Hi guys, I've got a worrying noise from the rear of my '99 2.8 Z3. At first I thought it was something falling off, but I now think it might have something to do with the diff i.e nothing obviously is falling off. I'm in the process of changing the diff oil. How much oil does it take? As it has a dr...

Side repeater light
Hi folks, I need some advice concerning my 1999 2.8 Z3. I was giving it a good wash today and noticed that the side indicator repeater light was a bit loose. Nothing drastic but just a bit rattly when compared to the other one. How do I tighten it up? Just to clarify things, I'm talking about the in...

I bought one of these recently. I backed my Z into a bush in the garden and a particularly aggressive branch broke my antenna clean off. How stupid. I tried all the on-line breakers and the after market suppliers of BM bits. No luck. I finally paid my main dealer about £60-£70 for the base unit. It ...

I have to add my few pennyworth here. I just don't like private plates and have always failed to see the point of them. Having said that my last Ducati and my current Z3 both have private plates. They were fitted by previous owners and left on the bike/car when it was sold on to me. What does a plat...

Hello Terry, I've never met you but your story is so sad. I've been in a similar situation to yours and I KNOW things will work out. It may take several years, but they do work out eventually. Well done zroadster

I happen to hate ratt...

Hi folks, I'm sure someone out there can educate me. I've been reading BMW glossy magazines and they keep going on about fitting de-cat pipes to BMWs and the significant power increase which result. I understand that. What happens at MOT time when the catalyser is no longer there? I assume the car f...

I recently fitted a chromiumtech strut brace to my 2.8. I confirm it's well made and is delivered all assembled, not in three pieces to minimise postage, as has been suggested. It fits extremely well, provided you have a thin set of sockets. There's not much clearance around the countersunk holes; w...

I think seasurfer is the first person to mention the police in this thread. I was trying to sell a BMW motorcycle some years ago and I had one of these scams tried on me. They went as far as sending me a cheque for about £1k more than the asking price and then asking me to cash the cheque and then s...

Yep, I sure do know it.
I've ridden it many many times on motorbikes. Excellent road just as the journo described.
A real Ducati road.

I did some repairs to my antenna some weeks ago and recall a wire (similar to the one you show in your picture) connected to the antenna body. I've no idea what it is for! Sorry I can't offer you more positive help but perhaps you should have a look at your antenna base for a connector which is miss...
