Re: Hard top, BMW fixing kit, tonneau and mesh wind deflector for sale
Just Tonneau cover in black and zipped a Mesh Wind deflector left.
Hard Top and kit gone to a fellow forum member.
Just make a fair offer as I would rather let them go here than on EBay.

Re: Boot Leak finding
Do you park on a hill facing uphill? If so heavy rainfall will overwhelm the seal geometry and will find its way into the boot. There is no fix.....just park facing downhill and problem solved. On the flat or small slopes no problem......steep slope equals very wet boot.

These are the seals that the Windows butt up to when installed, not the seal that sits on the body at the rear.

Re: Z3 2.8 Widebody
The offset is too low and will result in the wheels being proud of the arches. On the 2.8 it won't be too bad on the rear as with standard off set of 38 some use spacers. The front will stick out too far.

Thanks, just shows you can learn something every day, which given the extensive nature of a rear end 'upgrade' might then point more towards a repair after a shunt. Has anyone undertaken this change?

Re: rear wing compatability and facelift '97
This is not difficult to do as all the parts including the rear wings just bolt on. No, they don't! It requires some modification of the shell to take the new parts and rear lights. What part of the shell do you need to mod? The sills, wings, arch liners, bumper and boot lid are all bolt on parts. ...

Re: rear wing compatability and facelift '97
It's quite possible that the previous owner undertook the task of 'upgrading' the rear of the car to later spec. This is not difficult to do as all the parts including the rear wings just bolt on. If it had been in a serious accident that required a rear end re build then that could explain it too. ...

It's a shame you have no takers as the price is fair for a 3.0. Just start a new thread for the hard top. I paid £700 for my Topaz blue top with fitting kit ( though no switch included). I can see why people use 'we buy any car'... I'm not sure you could use the 'we rob any car' as your car may be too old.......however that's a blessing. Regardless, the best defence is not to use a " garage" for an MOT. They have a vested interest in failing the car in the hope that you will give them repair work. I'm not saying that all garages behave this way, but unless you have 100% faith in a particular establishment then just use a d...

Late 90's to early 2000's Mercs all suffer in the same way. Not sure what the cause is, but may be early water based paint being used or poor anti corrosion coating to the steel.
I've looked at lots of early SLK's and almost all of them are rusty.

Have you thought about having it retrimmed. Search for Royal steering wheels, they do a great job to whatever spec you want. Very good prices too. Around £120-130 I believe. You need to swap the bumper too. In addition I think the drive shafts on the narrow body car are shorter than the wide body items. Not an issue in itself as you could fit wheels with a smaller offset to compensate. I believe that standard Z3M wheels will fit. Please double check with part numbers fr...
