Re the pic of the grey spray painted bonnet .... is it so horribly wrong that I find the bonnet of a Z3 just SO sexy!

Over here in NZ, the guy who installed my new soft top a year and a half ago told me that if I looked after it I should get twenty years out of it. The car is parked in the garage when not in use, so doesn't sit out under our harsh UV sunlight.

When Andy showed me the pics he took yesterday, all I could say was: Oh my God, she's BEAUTIFUL!!!!

I thought the car WAS Montreal Blue before the repaint...but perhaps not?

Yes, we survived the earthquake. Reports of the 'leveling' of Christchurch were MUCH exaggerated!!! Media focused on the worst hit and made it look like all of Christchurch suffered the same damage. Coming home last night I saw a Z3 parked on the road (in the suburbs) and thought to myself 'you poor thing, out here all alone on a cold winters night.'

I actually wanted to take it home and put it in a nice garage....but apparently they call that car theft as opposed to vehicular rescue.

We retro-fitted roll hoops in my our 98 Z3.

Got all the parts and trim off a wreaked one.

It's a half day job, and best to do it when you have the time to enjoy it. Not difficult, just time consuming.

My son (20) loves my 1998 Z3, and has done a lot of the world WITH me on the car.

have had to teach my daughter (18) to drive in this car (it's the only manual car we have!), and now she TOO wants to inherit this car!!

I had an issue with the power supply for mine. Our solution: Remove glove box and then remove the wiper control module at the back. I had my catalytic converter replaced at a muffler replacement place. So find yourself a business that deals in mufflers and ask if they do converters too!

I didn't put a BMW catalytic converter in, becuase they are HUGELY expensive, just a generic one.

If you have the boot lining WITH the shaping for the CD changer, and you want to change this for the lining with NO CD changer, you will also need the side piece as well. Have a look and you sill see how that is cut to fit with your existing back piece. A new one would have a different cut line. So ...

I love the drive from Christchurch city to Diamond Harbour. Lovely winding roads, hill climbs, and a nice latte at the end. Then back and do it all again!!

I would be so annoyed if someone did that to my soft top. What kind of idiot does that? I would recommend you find WHO is the most recommended auto trimmer in your area and go see them to talk abotu what can be done. I live in Christchurch NZ, and we have one of the best Auto Trimmers in the country...

I think a clear perspex bonnet would work nicely....but you'd have to chrome up some engine parts to make it work looking at!!!
