I also have power steering fluid on my driveway as of my weekend drive. Funny how our cars do the same things at the same age. Mine is also a 98. That's why I love a forum like this. Collective knowledge. You guys have given me the confidence to craw under and have a look for myself. Any recommendat...

Re: boot floor welding
are there any noises coming from under the car when the boot welds are failing? Yes. When the diff mount fails the diff rotates under load. This caused a knock/clank noise as it hit the exhaust. If yours has failed you will be twisting the boot floor every time you accelerate. Could lead to all sor...

Re: alarm led
Thanks for the quick reply Jonco. I'll have another look around. Without taking the seats out I don't see how I can look any harder. On the plus side I did find £1.01. There is also the chance (as the roof was being replaced) that the roof was open when the button was bashed. It could be anywhere in...

Re: Crack in Diff to Subframe area - Spot welds in the Boot?
Well I've had mine done now and I'm very happy. I would certainly recommend them. The paint he used is even a really good match for Estoril blue. I've mentioned fitting the RF kit and he is up for it. He used to prep race cars in his younger days, including seam welding the chassis. Sent from my Tra...

So can anyone recommend a reliable quality workshop in my area capable of carrying out this job then ? St Neots, Cambridgeshire but could travel. It's so hard recommending a workshop to someone. I'd love to see a picture of the components that make up the Randy Forbes kit. I've seen so many pics I'm not sure what you'd get if you ordered one. Also, I'm going to stick with the single ear type mount. Keeping everything as standard as possible has to make it easier for your welder to get it ri...

I've only just found out about this event this morning. I'm not a regular contributor to the forum and generally only read the model specific Z3M section. Re: Z3M S50 Conrod bolts stretched and big end knock
I had shell bearings go after an oil change by a main dealer. Engine full of swarf. Mine was also low mileage. People on other boards and forums are recommending different oil as a possible solution. Castrol Edge 10w60. I don't see how that could stop bolts stretching though. I only mentioned it as ...

Well I've got it back now. :) New bolts and seals for exhaust side vanos solenoids. Seems I was quick enough to stop the car. Engine runs better now that it did before. Oil was very expensive at over £10 per litre. Total bill was £340. (seems a lot to be but I'm soooo glad to have it back) .... Anyo...

Its the heads of the bolts that have snapped off. Longer bolts wouldn't have helped. I must have done about 3 miles at about 70ish after first noticing something a little odd behind me. Hi Guys, I hope you have some advice. Seems my vanos has gone bang. It has broken the bolt heads on the solenoid cover. Oil has all pi$$ed out. Be very careful not to short circuit the knob light wires, cos there's no fuse protection. If you do, you'll probably end up frying the dimmer in the light switch which means you'll lose all your dash lights. A new switch is £35 or so and is a sod to fit (ask me how I know!) Russ Have you any tips ...

Has anyone tried getting 4 pots from another model to go on the front of an M Roadster?
Seems some people say it is possible for E36 M3s so it should be possible for us.

My car lists over at the front. There is almost an inch difference in ride height between the two front wheels when measuring to the wheel arch. The off side is lower than the near side.
