are there any noises coming from under the car when the boot welds are failing? Yes. When the diff mount fails the diff rotates under load. This caused a knock/clank noise as it hit the exhaust. Well I've had mine done now and I'm very happy. I would certainly recommend them. The paint he used is even a really good match for Estoril blue. I had shell bearings go after an oil change by a main dealer. Engine full of swarf. Mine was also low mileage. People on other boards and forums are recommending different oil as a possible solution. Castrol Edge 10w60. I don't see how that could stop bolts stretching though. I only mentioned it as ...

I have a similar problem execpt its my drivers door that doesn't lock with the alarm press. It also isn't locked through central locking when using the key on the passenger side.
Sounds like it is this actuator problem?
Any tips for easy removal and refit?

Fixed

Well I've got it back now. :) New bolts and seals for exhaust side vanos solenoids. Seems I was quick enough to stop the car. Engine runs better now that it did before. Oil was very expensive at over £10 per litre. Total bill was £340. (seems a lot to be but I'm soooo glad to have it back) .... Anyo...

Its the heads of the bolts that have snapped off. Longer bolts wouldn't have helped. I must have done about 3 miles at about 70ish after first noticing something a little odd behind me. Wasn't sure it was coming from my car at first. Very tiny whisps of smoke every so often. Wasn't down on power tho...

Be very careful not to short circuit the knob light wires, cos there's no fuse protection. If you do, you'll probably end up frying the dimmer in the light switch which means you'll lose all your dash lights. A new switch is £35 or so and is a sod to fit (ask me how I know!) I've got 19" wheels so I can use the numbers without doing some maths.
Knowing the tolerance is 10mm is helpful though.

Yes, aquaplaning is also a problem too. I find the tyre size fine. Its never rubbed on the arches. The rears a very close the the spings. Never touch though. a manufacturing fault in the bearing shell.

With my engine the conrod bolts were measured and found to be the correct length. The thread pitch wasn't distorted, they were round and had a uniform diameter.

The ECU logs maximum revs. Your car knows more about you than you think.
