This was caused by some surface rust on the rear of the front right disc (not wheel bearing as the garage first suspected). So I now have a brand new spare front wheel bearing to include with the car (£100).

I think so, but you will need to use a passenger occupancy simulator (such as this http://www.bimtronics.com/ ) since the occupancy sensor is only installed in the passenger seat, which will become the drivers seat for you.

I think you can find cheaper simulators on ebay too..

When I repaired mine, I found that contact adhesive was used originally to bond the fabric down. So I used this and it has been fine for a year now.

The fabric on mine was long enough to slip under the plastic though..
