Driving in the winter

Yes here in Oz it is winter time. Though my winter may be more like your summer in the UK with temperatures ranging from three to eighteen celsius. I reckon its more pleasant driving at this time of year with the top down, than in summer. Of course the heater on max, wind deflector and windows up an...

Well it's a BMW and I've been driving them for about 20 years - such engaging cars to drive. I love just about everything about it - the way it looks, sounds, handles, accelerates, the creature comforts ( leather, wood, air, cruise, heated seats, etc). Basically it is such a joy to drive - I still l...

Water leak

A water leak has recently appeared. It is on the driver's side above the very top point of the quarter window. i can't figure our why it is coming in as the seals seem to be ok. Not a major leak, just a slow drip. Any help would be much appreciated as the zed is now my only car having sold the e39.

We have 3, 2.8 BMW's including the Zed and none require top ups between changes. The two E39's have about 130k on them and the one we have owned the longest has changes at 20-25,000 without top ups. I can't speak for the Zed long term as have only had it a couple of months but appears not to have us...

Well actually it rattles even more with the handles closed.

The allen key socket only adjusts the length of the hook as you say. However the pivot points are lower down, one being just accessible but the lower one does not seem to be and unfortunately that's where most of the rattle comes from

Found the rattle in the roof

My clever 11 year old son found the source of the elusive rattle in the roof when it is down. It is the locking hooks that are the culprit as when the roof is down there is no tension on them causing them to rattle. The question is how to fix? The pin that goes through the eye of the hook seems to b...

I'm currently running Michelins on my 2.8 and find them really noisy (though they are quite worn on the back), so I'm looking for something quieter that won't tramline.
