Re: Engine - when reving, engine slow to come down to tick o

okay, my first task failed at the start line, I can't get the lower ball joint out so have given up and am going to take her in to the local garage. I'll order a L+R control arm. I see a few on ebay for as little as £50 for a set. Is the control arm for the 2.2 standard? I can see a part number on t...

Re: Engine - when reving, engine slow to come down to tick o

Hi Mike,

Thanks - will have a go at that. It does not increase revs by itself, its only when revving, (showing off at traffic lights) that its slow to get back to idle :?

thanks

Engine - when reving, engine slow to come down to tick over?

Hi, Not posted on here for ages...sorry. I've had the zed for about a year now and have notced when revving, the engine comes down from say 4k to tickover slow, is this normal? It seems to have plenty of power and a smooth tickover. I also noticed, when placing the end of a screw driver onto the fro...

Ming,

Thanks for the update - will keep that in mind. Have yet to try Shell fuel !
Nice piccy, strange looking Z3, some say mixing water into the fuel can improve performace 8-)

thanks for the replies. I'll fill up this weekend with shell v-power and see how she goes. I guess if the knock sensor(s) went it may knock all the time? I noticed something else but think its my imagination, sometimes she seems to lack power on a trip, if I stop, say for a break and start up again,...

my fault - bad description, I think it is little men hitting the cylinder block with little metallic hammers, comes on when accelerating or going up hill. I read somewhere the Z's have an anti knock sensor, could this be at fault? Will try changing the fuel first though just to be sure

Cheers

Thanks for the replies - this is on high octaine, although I think the tank had a bit of low octaine in before the high went in, (fuel light came on before high went in). I'll go for an empty tank, refill with Tescos high and see how she goes

Cheers

Pinking....possibly

Hi, Noticed on my 2.2 that when I put my foot down, or go up hill I hear this metallic ratteling sound, it could be the exhaust but I was wondering if z3's suffer pinking....I've read somewhere about anti knock sensors, does this apply to pinking. Sorry to be vague, only owened the z for about 6 mon...

My Z3 2.2 tramlines mainly in the wet and to be honest it feels unsafe. Need to change the tyres even though they look ok. (Currently Contental) You would think that with such an iconic car BMW would have corrected this. Odd how some tramline while others don't? I don't use mine for work, if I had t...

Linux

I come across a lot of people being infected with Security Tools, it's a nasty one. You were lucky a safe mode and malware bytes got rid of it, normally needs a msconfig change to stop the process taking over the normal ways of stopping it such as via task manager. It seems to by-pass most antivirus...

Thanks for all the links, pictures will arrive when she looks half decent, went out twice in her and she's not looking good right now, (why did I choose black)! needs some s...

New to Z3 and forum - direction needed

Hello all, Well, I took the plunge and bought a 2.2 Z3. I am extreemly pleased with it but have a few questions on what looks like a very complicated car. I bought the z3 having restored and sold a Triumph Herald and was going to go for a GT6 replacement but decided something more modern was require...
