Radweld!

Shortly after I bought my car I noticed a very slight water leak in the radiator. After tolerating it for a month or so topping up I decided to have a new radiator. Problem sorted, however recently I had a whistling noise which turned out to be a water pump bearing on its way out..... I suspected th...

Seems to be a few of these lately. Suspect a split induction hose maybe causing the noise you describe. check the rubber hose as it goes into the throttle body for any splits. They are not very expensive to replace so don't worry if you do find it split. Yes I thought it could be a split hose as th...

whistling noise coming from engine?

Hi all, Can anyone shed some light on this problem, I've not started investigating properly yet as it was dark when I got home but it would be good to get some clues before I start tomorrow. Engine seems to be making a sucking / blowing noise - I thought initially the window wasn't shut properly. Li...

I can see your point, if I'd paid £250 for the brackets I'd be pretty upset too but I paid £609 for the whole job, roof, respray, brackets, switch and fitting. In this respect I feel a bit unfair moaning about value for money........

Re: Hardtop rain tracks??

Are they easy to remove, clean and refit? Karl Karl, They are held on with double sided tape, can be a bit fiddely trying to remove all the old tape off the roof and drain channels once you remove them. You will need really good double sided tape to re-apply. All in all not a hard job to do. HTH If...

I think I can guess who your supplier is and he has made a business out of supplying hardtops and his own fitting kits (not BMW ones). Yes, sounds like the same fellow - even though I have one or two things that are minor irritants I still think he did a sterling job for the cash I paid and I would...

Hardtop rain tracks??

Hi everyone, I recently had a hardtop fitted to my Z3. I bought it off ebay, the fellow had it painted, supplied brackets and came from Scotland to fit it. I got it all very cheaply so I made allowance at the time with one or two slight issues - opting to sort them out later. One of the main problem...

Z3 costs

In March I bought a z3 2001 1.9 excellent cond, fsh, 40K for £4950 from a dealer. I'd reseached the prices for some time before and reckon this was a fair price.. I would put value on the service history and low miles.

Ebay and autotrader are pretty good guides

hope this helps

Revs problem

I had a problem with tickover revs on my 2001 1.9 roadster. I drove home from work and stopped at my house to pick something up - the engine was warm at that point. When I got back in and started it up I noticed it was revving a bit high 1500... I set off - everytime I changed gear the revs seemed t...

Sympathies

I feel the same way - thought I was doing my car a favour by buying it a car wash but I'm sure they used Fairy liquid - didn't damage the paint but took all the wax off! Also not happy about the powerwash they used - blasts everything off. Sticking to hand washing myself now with maguires gold - it'...

Re: Non-return valve issue.

Yes I have. There is a non-return valve on each jet that stops the fluid draining back into the bottle. it also takes some pressure to open, so it also prevents the fluid dribbling out when the washer pump is not running. If this non-return valve is 'gummed up' then it can get stuck open causing th...

Hi, best colour car by the way :D I use Meguires, step 1, 2 and 3 and get a great finish on old zeddy (even after stage 1) You will find with the minor scrathers in your paintwork, that by the time you have got to stage 3, the scratches have dissapeared. I have also never cleaned a car as much as i...

Jumped in

Took your advice and jumped in - I bought the Maguiars Gold wash and wax. I thought claying might be a risky business so I hung back but now that you all alerted me to the roughness of the paint I can't help noticing it!! I'll end up doing that sooner or later. They say old habits die hard and I nee...

jumped in

Decided to bail out of claying - seems a bit risky so I thought I'd gain confidence first, bought the maguiares gold wash and wax. Washed it last night, intending to wax today - but it albsolutely chucked it down all day so have to try again. :( English weather is depressing!

Wanted - Advice on getting a great shine that stays

Hi Everyone, for the last 20-odd years I have owned cars as a function only item, never polished and only washed when the fire brigade did a sponsored car wash - even then it was only because my girlfriend liked having strapping lads in uniform slaving for her :-) However, since buying my Z3 in Marc...

Sort of almost new guy!

Hi everyone, I've joined the BMW Z3 Roadster Owners Club on facebook and mistakenly thought this was Zroadster.net, thought it was funny that people kept directing me here :-) Anyhow, confusion settled, I've been a Z3 owner since March this year and I've been bitten by the bug and thrilled to bits w...
