I agree with the auto glym but I had to use it a few times. make sure you cover your paintwork as a few cloth roof cleaners can eat through some paint work. if you do get a marking on the paint a polisher and finishing pad should get it off.

You should be fine. The sump is high enough not to worry. Ive not had anything touch my sump so youll be fine, thats if the 2.2 and 2.8 have the same sump heights. The other option is engine raisers. Ive gone through sumps in previous cars so I've raised the engine and not had a problem.

Just read this thread and the links and I have a watertight car..... for the moment. I put foam lagging (used on aircon pipes) in the a frame/roof joint and raised the drivers door. Thank you to all that posted info and the op

Hi, The roof is now off the car but it is in great condition, no rips/tears and it fitted perfectly. The rear window is in great order and the motor works fine. It is a winter car. Ive managed to drive around Oxfordshire even through untouched snow so having to plough at the same time and its been fine. The big difference is having winter tyres, ive got conti winter contacts. The car feels alot more controllable then the all weathers I ran last year.

Cant help you on the oil im afraid but I have a r plate 2.8 and that definitely has a lsd diff. hope it helps

I think 17s are perfect. 18s look too big for the size of the car to me. I too love things like this. On a golf forum we had a thread of cheap mods to do to a car, was very useful. That would be a good idea for this forum! Like a show and tell for home made/cheap mods...
