Always look for loose batteries rolling around
I did that in 1966 with my MGB and the culprit was a LR14 1.5 volt battery!!
Glad you sorted the problem

I'm getting a tad confused with the different ' plates and spacers' we are all talking about. My problem is that my hardtop squeaks and rattles slightly when driving along and I feel that it needs adjusting to reduce this effect. Driving forwards at slow speed in a traffic queue does become uncomfortable sometimes and I have to lift the revs slightly to compensate but reversing does cause the car to hunt on a light throttle. I've noticed that when I back my 99 2.0/ Z3 into the garage the engine hunts in waves and unless I keep the revs up it stalls. Any ideas as to what causes this?

My Z3 is a 1999 2.0 litre straight six which is what BMW should have done from the start.
They did no favours to the launch model with the 4 cylinder unit as a starter, you can't beat the sound of a BMW 6 no matter what size the engine is!

Hi Guys
I've noticed recently that on a poor road surface the car tends to skitter around both at the front and back. It is a 1999 2.0 litre and has only covered 43,000 miles.
Any pointers as to what to look for please?
