Re: Reluctant manual Softop!
Robert- a very big thank you for your advice and for taking the trouble to post your responses- I have now have a fully working power hood! I had disconnected a few of the wires as I thought they were for the hardtop heated window but as soon as I reconnected them and re tightened the release valve ...

Re: Reluctant manual Softop!
Well colour me stupid. I found the power roof button- it was where you said it would be Robert, on the tunnel to the rear of the seats but unsurprisingly it does not do a thing- no whirring of motors, no clicks or buzzes so I can safely assume that all is not well with the roof (or I have broken it ...

Cheers Robert! I will have a good look around the cabin tomorrow for said switch although I am fairly certain that there is not one. The switch panel on the dash is a fairy sad state of affairs with only the ASC switch- the three other "switches" are just blank covers. I would agree that a...

Re: Reluctant manual Softop!
OK thank you for the responses however I am now just a little confused. Robert, there does appear to be a pump in the left side of the boot with a cylinder filled with hydraulic fluid- together with the release valve control you mentioned- however I can not for the life of me find an activating swit...

Reluctant manual Softop!
I have recently purchased a nice little 2.0 roadster 1999 but either it was built as a personal commission for Geoff Capes (does that make me old?) or something is slightly amiss. It takes an almighty effort to both raise it and lower it (age again?) I have to put all my 14 stone behind it to get it...

Re: *wanted * Hard top
Hi Nash, I am picking up my "new" Z3 this weekend coming. It has a hard top fitted that I will not want and will therefore be looking to sell. Not sure what to ask. I will be looking to sell it with the fitting kit as well hopefully. It is silver in colour and I am just west of Reading (Pa...

Re: BMW round spoke 17" alloys with tyres
Thanks for the feedback. I thought this might be the case. I have four "watchers" on e-bay so I will wait and see what happens but if they don't sell I might just buy some adaptors and put them on a different car or at least swap the tyres over as the tyres must be worth something?

BMW round spoke 17" alloys with tyres
Removed from my 2.8 Z3. I recently refurbished these and they have come up quite well- a few scuff marks are still evident but they would make great winter wheels. Rear tyres are very good with 6mm, rears are down to 3mm. I have listed then on e-bay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&...

Hi Dave and welcome to the Forum. I have owned an Alfa 156 1.8TS in the past- a great car, and more recently a Lexus soarer twin turbo ( a brilliant car!)- you will find the Z3 slightly more old school and perhaps slightly heavier to drive depending on the model you buy but why restrict yourself to ...

Hi Phil, I have no idea how big a job this is on a Z3 however on my last car, a Lexus it was an all day affair - the entire dash needed to come out as the heater matrix was bolted to the cabin side of the bulkhead. Very nice! Just out of interest did you buy it sight unseen or did you view it in California. I'm guessing that if it was the former there is enough documentary evidence given all of the work that you could buy with a certain degree of confidence?

I take your point re the windscreen supports and I was not aware the seats were heavy due the amount of structural steel in them - and at 5'8 I guess I sit a decent distance below both! Thanks for the replies Gents. I think I'm erring towards the side of caution and will stick with the factory ones fitted. Presumably the standard factory black roll bars offer a good level of protection.
