Update to aerial fitting- checked old Grommet and there is a ridge inside so loosened the fitting bolt at the bottom of bracket and pushed top fitting down a fraction so that the bulb sits on this lower ridge. Looks much better now and less likely to be broken again. Not quite so good on the exhaust...

Yes I was looking at the Amsoil mtf but it showed it as 5-30 which seemed a lot lower numbers?

Thanks for the info Geoff and possibly there are lots of variations in the pipe set ups from new.

I do like the sound of a Tvr s2 but too expensive and unreliable.
Wish I was still young in body as opposed to just being young at heart(wrong side of 60) but luckily no near neighbors

Yes I did read up on them and they seem to get good reviews as well.
Also my local tyre supplier was offering 4 of these for £100 less than the eagle f1s.

I had the same notchy/difficult gear change from 1st to 2nd and changed the gearbox oil and put a braided hose on which has improved it dramatically. Unfortunately therefore not sure which made the most difference as both done the same time but as the oil which came out did not look too bad, perhaps...

The flange is a similar shape but the bolt holes did not line up as different width between centres. It is possible but the pipes are a slightly different diameter and the flange will need modification. I went the other way & fitted a s/s longlife catback from a 1.9 to my 2.8 thinking that as it was more free flowing it should not affect performance. It was fairly cheap so thought would have a play...

Had an early 1996 1.8 MX5 a few years ago and agree that nice enough to drive but always felt a bit "tinny" and cheap. Decided to get rid of it as had serious rust issues and never really had enough power output.

Is there a 3.0 in the pre facelift body as I currently have a 2.8 pre facelift(I also prefer this body shape) but was thinking of getting a 3.0 with the bit more power over the 2.8.
