Re: Dual Mass Clutch Failure "Symptoms"
Failure of DMFs is more usually a diesel problem and is often caused by the massive torque and tendency of drivers to exploit that at too low a rev range. I never labour my X-Type 2.2D, and ensure that if I can sense the engine's firing strokes, I change down. Parted with my X type 2.2 at 84,000 st...

Re: Chrome windscreen surround fitted
Interesting but when I had a new windscreen fitted by a BMW dealer they actually replaced the chrome surround as part of the job, considered it would be damaged in being removed and replaced. The car had the chrome fitted as a factory option. S346A CHROME LINE EXTERIEUR ----- seems to be Screen surr...

Re: Lucky escape
The M doesn't have a spare. The fronts are different size to the rears. The car comes with a compressor and integral sealant in the unit. If you use the sealant in the unit the cost of replacing is I believe over £100.For that reason I use the Holts Tryeweld at £10 It is fine if you have a nail in ...

Re: Lucky escape
Hasn't the Zed got a space saver? if you were running with the tyre partially deflated it could have caused additional damage to the. I keep my space saver in the boot rather than slung under the car as its easier to ensure its inflated and to keep it away from the elements. I would never trust the...

Daughter recently swapped her A3 for a Mini Cooper Countryman. A few days later heading home hit a pothole , but while tyre damaged she was able to get 60 miles home, and drive to dealer next morning to get new tyre fitted, unfortunate as tyre was as new. She now asks why all cars are not on RunFlat...

Re: Rear window replacement near to Stockport, Cheshire?
If you are looking at keeping it in "original condition" forget trimtech and stay with a zipped in BMW original screen, although I think he would do that ----at a realistic cost. To keep ours in good condition I use a foam tube (used by children learning to swim) whenever hood is down, whi...

Trimmtech did ours a couple of years ago.
He took the hood off completely to sew a new unit in place, I had rather nice lunch in Sandbach
Been perfectly happy with the job.

I find the sports seats in the z3 very comfortable, runs from North Wales to Le Mans never leave any back trouble. From Sandbach suggest you take a trip over to Demon Tweeks at Wrexham. They were £45 plus rear adjustment if required on my 5 series or just £45 on the Z3. I have never seen a tyre bay as clean and tidy as they keep the area. They use a Hunter rig
