Hi there,
Is there anything left of the internals?
If the die cast park is only broken, I have had some success at repairing this part.
Regards

Door mirror internal support repairs.
Hi Guys, I managed to repair the innards of my snapped off mirror base. Although this metal resists normal solder, I managed to find some at Goodwood which actually did the job. I soldered it and so far have just not been able to separate the two parts. Mine had been snapped off becaused the base of...

Re: Z3 First Year Owners review
Hi There, By flooded, I mean the spark plugs and cylinders got a healthy load of fuel just as I let the ignition key return from the forward spring loaded position on start-up. This meant that there was no spark at the plug at the precise time the fuel was injected in, hence flooding the engine. Wit...

Z3 First Year Owners review
Hi All, Just thought I would endorse what many have said on this site already about running these vehicles. It does not need to cost a fortune. I took ownership of my Z3 2.0 Facelift in June last year and it has been a daily runner, reliably I might add every day since. Of course there is always som...

Re: 2.0 (1999) facelift Sarting problem
Hi Del/Bladerunner Yes... there are a few items that possibly need sorting out/renewing, plugs will be the first. I have given this car a good series of runs over the last 6 months as well as being the daily runner (it does 100 mi every day). When I bought it, it was the previous owners periodic wee...

Re: 2.0 (1990) facelift Sarting problem
HI All, Well, a conclusion of sorts. I disconnected the MAF and gave it a churn on the key, it did not burst into life but after 5 -10 secs it sounded more promising than yesterday. So reasoning that without a null message from the MAF and still no start I might as well plug it back in! Two more 10 ...

Re: 2.0 (1990) facelift Sarting problem
Thanks Rob, I'll give that a go in the morning. At least it is easy enough to get to and as you say is definitive as a test for elimination. Just as a aside, can the MAF fail catastrophically like this? In the last few months I have noticed neither lack of acceleration or loss of economy! Regards an...

Re: 2.0 (1990) facelift Sarting problem
HI Del, I agree, the one that usually lands in trouble is the Cam Pos sensor. I might have looked at these first if it had not been for the suddeness of the problem. I hear that both conditions you describe cause poor starting leading to failure whereas mine has only ever taken two turns on the star...

2.0 (1990) facelift Sarting problem
Hi all, Been enjoying the Z3 since begining of june, posting on here about various trips etc and using it as my daily runner. So far it has been utterly reliable. However, this morning the starter turned over as usual, it started and ran for a brief second and stopped and has been reluctant to fire ...

Re: New purchase Z3 2.0 Facelift
Hi all, Managed to get the Zed out of the country a couple of weeks ago and give it a taste of those luverly French roads. Could have done without the brake squeal and clonk from the front all the way down and back but there you go. Zed performed faultlessly all the way otherwise for the 1000+ miles...

Re: New purchase Z3 2.0 Facelift
Thanks all for your kind comments and generous welcome. Still enyoying the Z3 and all the really great weather we have been having. I have forced soo many people into open top motoring, they all avoid me now. I agree with the performance quotes though. Dont expect too much from a standing start but ...

Re: New purchase Z3 2.0 Facelift
Thanks Guys for all your comments,
Will be keeping the 3 standard, if only because its easier to know what has gone wrong and with advice from people on this site it should be easier (and less expensive) to fix!!

New purchase Z3 2.0 Facelift
Hi All, Just became a new member of the 'ZED' club by purchasing a '99 2.0 Z3 facelift. I used to drive around in clunky diesels and such. Its my daily runner putting in 100 miles a day five days a week with an already steady 132k on the clock but it feels and sounds as if it is new. If truth were t...

Wanted, Z3 Rectangular Passenger Mirror
Looking for Passenger door mirror. Could even take the metal internal mounting piece on its owns so long as it is in one piece and still attached to the base. Let me know what you have and we'll go from there. 22 july 2012, found one on flea bay and recovered the bits I need. Must upload some photos...
