I have a 98 M44. I have replaced all of the bushes in the suspension, drop links and control arms. All are OEM with the exception of the rear subframe side bushes in which I have used poly bushes. It had huge Mtech wheels on when I bought it but I have gone back to the original 15" pepperpots. ...

Fixed mine recently. Passenger seat stuck in full up position. Took the seat out, disconnected the raise/lower mechanical linkage, wound it manually away from the end stop where it was jammed, oiled everything in sight. It's been fine ever since.

If you'd needed a couple of things from the car section then you could have got the conditioner/sealant for free on the 3 for 2 offer. I use the Wonderwheels cleaner and Wonderwheels sealant which have transformed my mouldy hood (as bought) into something that looks almost new.

I have lost count of the cars I've had over 42 years of driving. I've had most things and although I've always liked the look of the Z3 I never got round to buying one until 3 years ago. I am also a biker and had a very bad accident in 2011. I was unable to walk for quite a while and bought a Z3 M44...

That's strange as I bought a new sill from my local Dealer a couple of months ago £150 with discount. They didn't mention anything about discontinuing them. That said I'm surprised an aftermarket company hasn't developed non metallic sills as they are only cosmetic - bit of a no brainer really and w...

Re: Rear wheel bearings on Z£ M44
Over the winter I have done both rear wheel bearings on my 1998 1.9 M44. I did them, not because they needed replacing but because the backplates were shot and the hubs need to be removed to change the backplates. Removing the hubs invariably damages the bearings etc etc. This was part of a complete...

After standing and getting cold you may have sticking valves not quite closing properly. As post above my lumpy starting was solved by oil and filter change using good quality 0/40 oil. There's a few engines on EBay - some with 3 months warranty (which is all you equally need to make sure it's ok) and one with 80,000 miles for £230. I would certainly consider that route. Having had most of the ancillaries off, a DIY swap with a handy mate looks very feasible.

For future reference the main cooling water hoses top, bottom and expansion tank to engine are all about £25 from BMW Main Dealer. The flexi from engine to MAF is just under £20.
