Leaks from crankcase and coolant expansion

Hi guys and girls, Hope you're all keeping well and have been busy enjoying your cars in the well overdue nice weather. My Z3 went in for an MOT on Saturday 29 May and sailed through with no advisories - not bad for a 20yr old car! However, could smell coolant on the way home so waited for the engin...

Re: 2.2i air intake assembly

If it is similar to the one I have for my 2.8l, the purpose use to be to suck in cold fresh air. Not warm air from under the hood. Cold air is offering a little more horse power. Thanks for the quick reply! On inspection, there would still be cold air passing through as nothing extra exposed to hea...

2.2i air intake assembly

Hi folks, Hope you're all keeping safe and well and enjoying the better weather with those roofs down! Quick question on the air intake assembly on my 2.2i. I'm looking to replace the rubber intake boot that connects from the MAF to the intake manifold (the one with the breather hose socket) as prev...

Touch-up kits

Hi everyone,

Hope you're all safe and well.

Just starting to wake my Z3 up after winter hibernation and after a quick hose down at the weekend, spotted a couple of stone-chips. It's Hell Red II - does anybody know where these can be sourced?

Cheers

Electrical gremlins - indicator/headlight flash

Hi folks - hope you're all keeping safe and well! Been suffering with some electrical gremlins over last couple of months. Originally it seemed to be quite sporadic and the symptoms were under normal engine load, the ignition would momentarily cut out as if stalling for a split second, but come stra...

I used to use a couple of old bedsheets draped over the car - did the job of keeping the spiders and dust off really well! Kind of sweet really - literally tucking the car up in bed for the winter... Hi folks - quick update on the car. A quick glance at the recent posts column on the home page seems like its the season of engine problems! Re: Z3 sills.....

Spookily enough - I've just had mine done at main dealer. Breakdown is as follows:
I've got a 2001 2.2.

Parts - £271.42
Labour - £290.67
Paint - £211.04

They found a bit of chassis corrosion on mine when they took the outer sill panels off - fingers crossed yours isn't as badly corroded!

Re: Which wheels?

Well, you won't get any change in the height of the arch gap by changing the wheels, because the ride height will still be the same but you'd significantly improve the look if you either use spacers to push the rears out to meet the wheelarch, or fit wider rear wheels to achieve the same effect. In...

Evening all, Just musing over a couple of options while the car is garaged over the winter. Something that hasn't sat right with me is the car's stance (no pun intended). It has the 16" wheels which I think look silly in the rear arches. They seem to swallow up the wheels when looking down the ...

Thanks for all of your responses!

I think I will go with something like the doubled-over door mat. It won't make too much of a difference I think, as it only sits through winter.

April can't come quick enough...

Are there any cruises/drives pencilled in around the North in the summer?
