Re: Anyone ever bought tyres on ebay?

Make sure before you buy tyres from eBay or online that you can get the tyres fitted locally, most tyre fitters do not want to fit new tyres bought elsewhere. You would be surprised, my local fitter put it to me a different way. I turn up with four tyres, he fits them and disposes of the old one fo...

Well since the arial is something I have just focussed on, as I need to buy a new base
I would definitely be interested in one of these!

I've gotta say I do like that spoiler a bit, even though I like the rear lines on the preface anyway!

Yes, he has indeed. And long may that continue.

Thankyou everyone for the welcome.

Step one, something I always do when welcoming a new car to the garage, new boots going on next week.

Re: Soon to be Zed owner from Nottinghamshire

A little bird tells me that you have bought zippy's best friend but it is believed he has gone to a good home :D I like the sound of what you are thinking of doing with Old Zeddy, in keeping with the last owner. Looking forward to seeing a progress thread hopefully. Congratulations on your new purc...

Winter Tyres - Hankook Icebear W300 - 225/40/18

Obviously not the best time to buy winter tyres, but I need the space and someone out there might like a bargain for the winter! Hankook Icebear W300 - 225/40/18 I've had these sitting in my garage for about 18 months since they came of my now gone E46 (rip). They were fitted for one season and have...

Re: Maybe breaking 1.9 Z3

Assuming they are the same as on my 98 z3, I could do with a passenger side doorlock actuator.

Re: Clutch & Gearbox - Light & Easy ?

Both my old E46 325ci and my new Z3 have a heavy clutch and a very positive gearbox.

Personally I rate this much better than the spongy light/shite gearbox in my mondeo :D

Re: Tyres

They do not blow up, they are safe at speed (assuming the tyre has the necessary speed rating) and they do not go out of balance every few hundred miles. I have only heard of the latter happening on tyres that have been damaged internally in an accident e.g. hitting a kerb at speed. Well now you ha...

Re: Tyres

When I bought my last BMW it came with 4 brand new tyres that were budget. It was shocking, went out of balance every couple of hundred miles and made things extra slippery in the wet. The falkens I replaced them with were much much better in daily driving, but they gave little in the way of feedbac...

Re: Tyres or steering

If the car has just passed its MOT (l know the garage and they are very strict) wouldn't they have detected any wear in the steering / bushes / wishbones / balljoints if it was sufficient to be affecting the steering? From my experience with my E46... The amount of wear required to even get an advi...

I know how this will play out.

10 days of good quality summer, then the day I pick up my zed it rains.

Enjoy the top down stuff folks :D

Re: bmw car parts

BMW?

If your local dealer is not that local, you can order from http://www.cooper-bmw-parts.co.uk/

I think you need to get part numbers first though, this can be done via realoem.com

Note - I have not used the online solution as in the past I would order from my dealer.

Re: deckles head units

I think when I get my Zed I will be going deck-less. I know if I have a CD player in there I'll just litter the car with CD's so I just won't have one!

Trouble is once I start messing with audio, i get quite obsessive about sound quality

When under pressure, a nick in a rubber seal will likely let stuff through.

Good spot, glad it's sorted

Re: Soon to be Zed owner from Nottinghamshire

Cheers chaps Billz - good to know there are a few of us about :) While the extra power id very appealing, I'm trying to avoid the 3.0 because the one thing about my E46 I didn't like was fly by wire throttle. I know it sounds daft but I just don't like 'em - even though I know they are fine for most...

Soon to be Zed owner from Nottinghamshire

Just signed up, figured a hello would be in order! In the last couple of months I decided I wanted a fun car, something enjoyable and engaging to drive. Up until last year I had a BMW 325ci which was nice, but a bit clinical to drive if I'm honest. Initially I fancied an E30 325i but a few things pu...
