Etch primer is for Aluminium alloy's as used in the aircraft industry, if it is steel you are painting then your primer will do.

Check the wiring loom inside the boot that flexes when you open and close the boot, its a known reason why the boot brake light fails. Mel.

There is still a problem when you are buying and exporting it the same week, I have bought two cars on here and brought them to France and the only way around it was for the seller to delay the sale until I had left UK, I had the insurance covered.

It may be worth checking if you have replacement windows on your insurance policy, a friend of mine over here had one replaced in his hood free of charge by the BMW main agent !

12 years ago I had a 2.8 Auto Z3 that I had a removable hook put on and I towed a 10 meter Glider trailer all over Europe with it and in 25 years of flying gliding competitions it was the best towcar of the lot. ( I am not putting a hook on my present one though :) )

Re: Tax disc or fuel charge ?

As you may know there is no road tax here in France, you just pay the tolls on 80% of the motorways. So if you are a cheap skate like me and stick to the 'A' roads it makes owning a Z3 affordable on a pension. I paid about 260 euros last year for 12 months insurance, (6 months on the road and 6 mont...
