Re: Red Z1 for sale- soon to be featured on TV
I was at a local coffee-and-bacon-sarnie classic car meeting on Sunday morning and spotted a couple of people checking out my Z1. I had a chat with them and it turned out they are the purchasers of the Wheels Dealers car in this thread. Even more of a coincidence is that my Z1 is the pristine exampl...

Re: Z1 required for a TV show
Edd is an extremely nice chap. Very friendly and very enthusiastic about all things cars. All I can say against him is that he is extremely tall.

Re: Window only moves 2cm pre-press
I tried the battery removal reset but that didn’t work. I couldn’t change over the controllers as the dinky connection mechanism defeated me, surely it’s not a case of just pulling harder (I’ve broken too many things doing that). Is there an easy way of separating them? I’ll give the fuses a go next.

Re: Z1 on front cover of BMWCC SS
People were paying £40000 for a new Z1 in 1989, which in today’s money is £86,876. So the ‘new’ Z1 at estimate £50,000 to 60,000 should be good value. But it wasn't a good investiment, he'd have got a better return from a bank.

Re: Window only moves 2cm pre-press
Thanks for the advice. I should have said I've already swapped over the window switches and its always the drivers side that does't work while the passenger side does, no mater which switch is used - hence not a switch problem.
I'll give the battery reset a go.
Thanks.

Window only moves 2cm pre-press
The driver’s side window will only go up or down in 2cm increments: I can get the window to go up and down but I have to repeatedly press the window switch. The window moves smoothly when the door is lowered and raised, so its not a mechanical problem. I’m thinking it’s a senor. Anyone had a similar...

Re: Dash removal - any suggestions?
Here are some pics of everything back in place... but first a picture of the repaired split seam which caused all this bother. I think the repair looks almost OEM so very pleased with it, it cost £150. Make sure you feed your leather to avoid this happening. http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc429...

Re: Dash removal - any suggestions?
Well, I got the dash out, but it was a major job. Once a few peripherial bits are removed, such as the dials pod, the whole of what is left in front of the driver and passenger is a single unit consisting of the radio/AC surround, windscreen vents, leather pieces in the footwell, metal mesh bits, et...

Dash removal - any suggestions?
I'm about to remove the dash and centre console so I can get a split seam in the leather repaired. Does anyone have any suggestions on how this is best done? Thanks.

Got a new hood
Just got a new mohair hood for the Z1. Made a fitted by Trimania in Wokingham. It looks rather nice, fits well and I can't tell the difference between it and the original it replaced (except for the holes) although yet to rain test it. Cost was £700 + VAT.

Re: Z1 Parts Prices
I just ordered a set and I must say I was glad they were available. I've got friends with old Fords and they struggle to get parts for non-current models, let alone 23 year old limited edition models. While cheap would be nice, if the choice is paying through the nose or not being able to get them, ...

Re: Z1 Tour Anyone?
ChrisS - no, not Irvines car. A local car to me, see link below. Its a bit of a mess but should scrub up well. Basics of the car are good: UK car, 49,000 miles, all original, full BMW service history, 4 previous owners (last since 1997). But needs new hood (or repair), leather refurb, paint (or wrap...

Re: Z1 Tour Anyone?
Hi, just bought a Z1 and would like to join you on the Saturday if there is space. Can't stay for the evening as I'm nominally looking after the kids that day as my wife is away. I should be able to leave them for a few hours though...!

Re: Z1 leather jacket...
Yes, glad I bumped into you. I bought the Z1 along to Silverstone on the Sunday and it was the only one there.
I'm prioritising a list of jobs so it can hold its head up amongst polished company. It may take some time!
Looks like I’m free for 31st August so I’ll be in touch.
Cheers, Richard
