Re: Battery
Agree, don't give up just leave it on a slow charge. I normally have my battery sat on a trickle charge but left it off for a couple of weeks and it went flat. A couple of days on the trickle charge and it was back to normal. You do need a good quality charger to recover a battery that is flat.

Re: Door Mirrors
I hadn't thought about the mirror mechanism seizing up until I read these posts. As I was in the garage today I thought I'd look at mine. They move ok but perhaps were a bit stiff. Looking at the shelves for a suitable lubricant I saw a tin of silkolene bike chain grease. Any way sprayed this in to ...

Re: Automatic gearboxes realiability question on all Z3
When I acquired my 2.8 last year it was equipped with the auto box and I will admit to having some concerns but have been pleasantly surprised, just needed to re-programme the brain to the variances of driving an auto. Cruising on motorways and A roads it makes for easy driving but want to get by a ...

Re: NEWBEE
I found similar issues with insuring my 1999 2.8 last year, most classic insurers said it was too young. Even the company that insured my Dad's 1996 XJS! In the end I got a reasonable deal off Adrian Flux based on 5000 miles a year.

Re: Z3 sales brochure
Agree they are good. I am fortunate the one previous owner of my Z kept every document/bill relating to the car including an original brochure and passed everything over with the car.

Re: Heater valve
I would of thought the hose was a prime suspect as they do degrade over time (and it is the cheapest option). I would have thought it unlikely but not impossible to be the valve body joint. Of course you could always denso tape it!! :) :) (Before anyone reacts in horror at my last suggestion i...

Re: Good price?
If I didn't have the ability to do my own servicing or for jobs beyond me I would look for a good independent for the Z3 rather than main dealer as unfortunately main dealer servicing seems to be around plugging the car into the computer and seeing what it says these days and they tend to be set up ...

Having just had to enter the code in my 2.8 following the battery being off I entered the UK number off my card and it worked.

Re: New Z3 Roadster - ADVICE / SPARES NEEDED

Re: Halfords tool sets for carrying out Z3 overhaul
I would agree with the comments about buying the best quality you can. My tool boxes have been accumulated over the best part of 30 years and have a mixture of different makes. A lot of quality tools can be picked up a a reasonable price at autojumbles and car boot sales. Where possible, especially ...

Just posting to say hi, new to the forum and new to Z3 ownership. A couple of months ago I was gifted a 1999 2.8 roadster with a genuine 35K on the clock. Problem was it had an argument with a bridge parapet and the Z's nearside front corner had come off worse! Anyway some clever buying off ebay and...
