Re: M54 intake swap gone wrong.

have you got comparison pics between the 2 manifolds? I'm interested in the size of the inlet on the head, and the manifold shapes I have a few pics that I'll push up to Imgur tonight. The new intake is significantly bigger, my conical filter is up against ther the wheel arch now, before there was ...

Re: M54 intake swap gone wrong.

Yes, thanks for pointing me that direction Steve.

Wow, what a difference, it seriously pulls now, and sounds a lot smoother.

Re: M54 intake swap gone wrong.

Turns out a vac hose going to a vacuum item (direct translation from German and no English on it) had pulled loose.

Re: long way arround screen washer pipe

Have always wondered why the washer fluid does a lap of the engine bay before getting near the screen.

Re: How much do you like your Z3

Several years, back when I was living on the Emerald Isle, after taking receiving a promotion and a nice new pay package I decided to take the rather expensive step of owning a car in Dublin. I'll be honest, the Z wasn't even on my radar at that point, I was actually after an S2000, pre 2003 when th...

M54 intake swap gone wrong.

Hi guys, was really hoping for this post to be a success story and a list of the great changes I've managed with the car. So, I've taken the old 2.0 m52 intake out and replaced with the m54 2.5 intake. Connected everything up and got in and fired her up. I f*cked up. She will idle, just, but the sec...

Re: Exhaust Manifold Question (and a few others)

Yeah, everyone I've seen who has made this change, even on the e46, is claiming big power increase and better response, so I'm excited. The intake body and DISA have just arrived in the office right now. The adapter is due to arrive early next week so fitting will be next weekend, instead of this on...

K&N Saved my Zed

A few years back I swapped out the standard cold air intake with a K&N conical filter. The K&N came with a feed tube designed to allow air being collected in front of the radiator to feed up to the new filter, now sitting at the top of the engine. Last week in the South of England we had qui...

Re: Interior changes.

such as brushed aluminium. I have the naff black/grey plastic trim brushed alu sounds awesome. The plasticy feel has always been a bit a disappointment with my Z, the chrome bezels don't quite make up for the sheer amount of black and grey plastic. That said this winter I'll probably splash out on ...

Re: Exhaust Manifold Question (and a few others)

Thanks Devon, I've now ordered the parts. Hoping they all arrive next week so that I can fit them over the weekend. I've been looking at the power increase others have been getting from this switch and it's not insignificant.

Re: Exhaust Manifold Question (and a few others)

Thanks Devon, definitely looking into that. Just looking over the parts available on ebay, and yeah, £120 seems to be enough to line up the parts. I'm on for that. Looks like a straightforward swap as you say. Just quickly, as it's not entirely clear elsewhere but is there any difference between the...

Re: MOT concern

My Z has been advisory on the colour of the turn indicator bulbs for years. I've never changed them and they've never failed. MOTs are a pain in the nose though, my Z originally had Irish plates, but one was cracked, enough to fail the MOT despite the point of the MOT being to get the car registered...

Exhaust Manifold Question (and a few others)

Hi Guys, I know it's been a while since I last posted (long story in real life, involved pain, blood and someone leaving the country) I haven't forgotten about here. I've been thinking more and more about the Z and what I feel it has, and what I feel it lacks I'd also like to reflect on a few rumour...
