Re: Inherited Z3
Hi Regarding battery drainage problem. You should check the actuator and solenoid functions. If the remote central locking isn't locking the either of the two doors or boot lid this could mean that an actuator has failed. Should this be the case then there will be an issue with power draining from t...

Hi Grant I have just purchased the standard Cabrio Shield having developed a leak from somewhere above the driver side windscreen. The water is running in behind the window seals on the driver's side. The hood is only 18 months old, supplied and fitted by BMW and was water tight last winter! I am ve...

Hi Guys I paid £3600 for mine in August last year however it came with a brand new BMW hood, fitted at a BMW dealership. I consider that I paid the right price for it at the time and I did a bit of research. Location has a lot to do with it and if you are prepared to travel to get the car you want t...

Hi Read Wells and thought I was there end of April but I was in Wells, Somerset. There are quite a few Z3s around and about here in the London suburbs. I see some regularly and sometimes spot a new one and wave. It is interesting how many drivers don't acknowledge this friendly gesture but I suppose...

Hi I am sure someone on these forums will know the answer to how many. Interesting re: the new paint code as I am soon to go to Halfords to have some mixed for touching up minor chips. Hi Guys
I am also the owner of an Orinoco Z3 1.9, March 1999 reg.
They are Special Edition. I have had mine for nearly one year and at the moment it is in it's element.
I didn't realise they did them in 2.8 version. I would be very interested to hear what you come up with.

How right you are. I first started admiring this car in July 1997 during a trip to the US where they were manufactured (put together really). I just loved the lines and the look. I never got interested again until last year when a friend of mine acquired a 2.8 version and I spotted one in Aruba, a f...

I was always worried about red paint oxidising. Is that still the case or have things changed?
I like blue too but my Zed is green. The paintwork is in very good condition with no lacquer peal. It is not showing it's age (1999) unlike it's owner!

Hi Russ Saw my twin last week, well almost. It had chrome gills and it did not look quite right. I have a Z3 Orinico SE (Deep Green) and it has chrome wind screen trim and door handles but I still prefer it without the chrome on the gills. As you say it is personal but presumably you can try them an...

I gave mine the same treatment. Retrimmed M tech in black leather, perforated and grain with beige stitching and extra padding from Jack at Royal Steering Wheels. I went to Aylesbury where he fitted it. It has made such a difference to the look of the interior and feels so good to drive. Much, much ...

Looking forward to seeing some more pics.

Hi NRY
Nice looking car. Great interior combination, very sharp contrast. I like the light leathers a lot, they look so classic.
What product did you use on the tyre walls? I have tried a couple of treatments but I haven't found anything yet that gives a prolonged shine.

Hi John I had a similar problem with the same standard fit unit. I discovered that it was related to the amount of condensation in the cockpit and after a period of running with the heater on it corrected itself. Perhaps you could try going for a spin with the top off (any excuse) and see if that im...

Hi Russ Looks like a lot of work but could be very rewarding. Re: The bolster. I had the same wear when I bought mine in September. Dino
If you mean the fitted floor carpet then don't do it. The carpet fibre is nylon polyamide and will not dye.
You could end up with a mess and a ruined carpet which will be very expensive to replace.

I think I am going to extend my cache of tools. I don't believe I have enough scope in my box of spanners to attempt these DIY fixes but a couple of pieces of steel are not going to beat me!
Thanks for the info.

Can anyone help? Everything was in place today to take out the seats and replace the bushes. Memorised the how to do step by step postings but big problem. My car has recently had a complete BMW hood supplied and fitted by Coopers, Croydon @ £1280 complete. Fortunately it was done under an insurance claim by the previous owner.
