Hard Top Issues
Hi all. It's been a while since posting, but I've got a couple of issues that I need to address before the weather really turns. A couple of years ago, whilst fitting the hard top, I managed to snap off the turning handle on the driver's side. Clearly there was a weakness in it, as it didn't take mu...

Re: Z3M bits and pieces for sale
Batchem1,
I'd be interested in the gear knob, depending on which one it is. Happy to collect any evening as I'm only up the road. If you could supply a quick picture that'd be appreciated.

Zedbedee,
When you want to link a pic, you need to first click the "IMG" button and then paste the link between the img tags.
Hope this helps!
Oh, and I see you're in Yeovil?

If you manage to get your pre-facelift switch, please let me know if you are selling the post-facelift version, as I'm after one, please.

Update, with a few cosmetic upgrades. This weekend I've added the pressed euro style plates to the car. Re: Initial hardtop fitting
I did manage to reduce the rattling on mine a bit by replacing the rubber buffers attached to the rear of the hardtop - they sit directly on the softtop roof catches and they go hard with age - I don't know if these are still available from BMW. Cheers R. They are indeed Robert. I only bought one t...

Re: First fill up
For the first three months I filled up our 2000 2.8 with Shell V-Power, after reading the forums. Due to not being able to find a Shell garage, and being a bit desperate, I chucked in some standard supermarket stuff. I didn't notice any drop off in performance or increased consumption (in fact consu...

Hi, The rubber part is a stop buffer, it allows the hardtop to sit against the soft top frame without damaging it. BMW parts dept will be you only real chance. Part number 54218410663 HTH Brian, Thanks so much for that advice. BMW do have them still, and I've ordered one for the princely sum of £2....

I'm thinking this lumpy idle and the spitting is associated with the MAF. I'm going to unplug it tomorrow and see if I have the same symptoms with the AC switched on.
If not, I'll whip out the sensor and give it a blast with some electrical contact cleaner.

Hi Andy,
Do you still have any kidney grilles? If so, what condition?
I'm desperate to get a set to replace the monstrosities on my 2.8.

Re: Glass in doors - slight rattle?
I've got to have a go at this again later, but...
The runner isn't moving, or at least it wasn't yesterday when I tried to wiggle it. It's only the anti-theft plate that flexes. It's almost like a paddle gear change.

Barry, Sir, you are a legend. Thank you.
P.S. Whilst I was in behind the door card I was confronted with a mass of smashed glass. It appears that a previous owner had a theft problem. Could the smashing of the glass have caused things to warp slightly?

So, I've had an irritating rattle every time I close the driver's door. So today I thought I'd have a crack at getting it sorted. Beside the rear window guide there is a small sheet of metal which, apparently, is to help prevent vehicle theft. It's the little plate here; http://realoem.com/bmw/showp...

These threads get me so worried sometimes! Finally there is one that sets my mind at rest. I've noticed on my 2.8, weirdly, that it knocks when I depress the clutch and move the gear stick towards first gear. Not when I just depress the clutch. Not when I only move the gear stick towards first...

Don't buy from ebay! Cheaper at the dealers.
I did mine last Friday (thanks to Spurs fan in a Coupe) and it looks much tidier and cleaner now.
Cost me £7.

and I just sold two at £55 each..... :head: Ouch! Either that really hurts, or you're going to be happy you've been able to help a couple of zedders. I read thread where you offered them at £55 delivered. You said you'd replaced them with perspex deflectors?!? Can I ask why and which you preferred?...

That makes two of us then Ben.
One sold on ebay for £150 yesterday. I passed on that one!
I'm thinking I'll have to go for a cheaper perspex version.
