Re: How nickable are Z3's?
Any lock, even on a new car can be breached in 60 seconds. It’s probably more like 10-15 seconds on a Z3. And the boot is particularly vulnerable without even touching the lock. Keys are easy to copy from photos so never show anyone your key publically. So it’s laughably easy to get inside a Z3. And...

That I think, is one of the earliest of the 2.2 RHD manual cars off the production line.
It may account for why it entered and stayed in the hands of the supplying dealer and his family.

I’m not completely convinced that’s the correct procedure. Unless somewhere an onboard backup is kept. It is - the coding for the ABS module is also stored in the DME. I know you’re not in UK. But most of those parts over here would be best bought new OEM or quality 3rd party. Reasons being secondhand parts are often as expensive as new for things like the marker lights which are only £25 new OEM anyway. And for something like the SRS badge they are difficult to f...

DBC is one aspect of DSC. The build option is whether it has the DSC system or not and hence the DBC as a component.
If you PM me with your email address I will send you a BMW document that explains the components of the system, the sensors/inputs and how it all works.

You quite possibly mean DSC - Dynamic Stability Control. Have a look on the passenger side of the engine bay. If you have a bunch of pipes going into a silver box with a black plastic module on top you have ASC. If there's nothing there and a similar arrangement is contained within the brake servo a...

The sills are about £130-£150 each from BMW.
Painting let's say £150.
And an hour of removing and refitting at £80.
So as a guide whole job between £500-£600.

An insurance quote is always going to be using BMW panels & parts or worst case a high quality and expensive alternative. And they will look to put eg a new bonnet on not repair the old one. It's very convenient for the insurance company to write-off rather than fiddle with a claim. Based on the quo...

I have exactly the same issue on a project car. But I’m not going to get to it for some weeks. I know all the places it can leak from so I’ll check through and report back in due course. The nastiest one is the roof. Not a difficult job but you need to do your research first and find 6-8 hours for it.

I think that’s good advice. You’ll get a lot of different views otherwise. And there’s not really enough information to be accurate.
The fact it’s Estoril Blue and has low mileage should help.
Anywhere between £3k-£5k depending on exact condition. But you probably know that much already.

They are normally £25.12 but as luck would have it they are currently discounted by 10% to £22.62. That's a good deal.
