Hi Guys

Is it possible to get a copy of the bmcables software from someone? I have the cable, and have emailed the bmcables guy, but have not heard anything back.

Re: How to remove your ABS module

So coding is vital! But you've avoided this issue by paying BBReman. And I have to say £129 is not too unreasonable, especially as I always thought it was around £200. You have something now that should last another 15-20 years. I have something for 25% of the cost but that could keel over again in...

Re: Winter progress + second advisory-free MoT in a row!

If its leaking out of the water pump it would be prudent to change it out for a new one sooner rather than later. Just check its not one of the hoses leaking at a joint, the rubber on our cars is getting rather old now and tend to start leaking, the crimp clips they used to connect hoses often loos...

Re: Solar trickle charger

I use a solar charger both during winter and when the car is parked for a few days in the warmer months. In winter, with the car on SORN, I remove the battery and connect the charger directly to the terminals, leaving the panel in the window to face the sun as much as possible. When connected to the...

Winter progress + second advisory-free MoT in a row!

2017 was a good year for my Z3, or Zed as my two sons call it. After being on SORN through winter, it got its first advisory-free MoT in 7 years so I put it back on the road a bit earlier than before and ran it for 8 months and 2,300 happy, uneventful miles in all. I put it back on SORN at the start...

How to remove your ABS module

Like many Z3 owners, I'd been living with the dreaded yellow ABS/ASC lights on the dashboard for some time. They'd come on intermittently, and then after the pull away self-test would go out for a variable amount of time - sometimes a few miles, other times a few days, before coming back on again. M...

Re: Winter work and (finally!) no more MoT advisories!

Well done, a few jobs ticked off the list. But what about the main one: the weather? All the efforts you put in will only add to the frustration if it keeps on peeing down all the time! Last week I had my first top-down ride of the year, and this week we get 19mm of rain in 2 days. Perhaps we could...

Winter work and (finally!) no more MoT advisories!

Finally got a fresh ticket today after a huge amount of work over winter. Better still, no advisories which was my ultimate aim, although things took a twist on MoT day - see below! For the last two years, I've SORN'd my Zed over winter to get the jobs done in the garage, and this is what I got up t...

Re: Fuel tank Straps

You may be able to repair them with a rust treatment product. I had a similar advisory and used POR21 (I think) which has a rust eater and then black paint. This sorted it and it disappeared from the advisories the following year!

Re: Kwik Fit MOT – ABS & ASC+T lights on like a Christmas tr

Dropped the Z3 off for an MOT today (no warning lights on dash) and get a call later saying that the car had failed owing to some ABS fault. It was alleged that by the tester simply driving the car from the MOT car park to the ramp (about 10 metres) for the emissions test, the ABS & ASC+T lights ha...

Re: gearbox and diff oil change

Any tips on removing the gearbox filler nut? Access is poor and I couldn't get enough purchase on it to turn when I had a go last winter. In the end, I gave up, worried I'd crack the casing.

Re: Winter work + MoT'd

I've been meaning to try some Por 15 out myself so was interested to see what you got in your kit, what you paid for it and how it went on. I'd read about POR15 on here, and since I didn't need too much of it, decided to order the starter pack which has small quantities of the degreaser, cleaner an...

Winter work + MoT'd

Been a bit quiet since joining the forum last summer, but after a great few months in 2015 hooning about in my Zed, I SORNed it in November last year to get a few jobs done. The money I'd otherwise have spent on tax has gone into the car instead, securing an MoT pass at the beginning of March - desp...

Glad I'm not the only one then! I also thought of all the salt and winter road grime plus few chances to get the roof down too.

Anyone else SORN for winter?

After a great first 6 months with my Zed, as planned I've recently put it on SORN for the winter months. We're a three-car household, so as well as a chance to save a bit of cash running it, there are a few jobs (rear brakes and exhaust mainly) that need attention. This is my first BMW and I have to...

Boston Green newbie

Hi everyone, Pleased to join the forum. Collected my Zed a week ago and thoroughly enjoying the experience! It's a 1.9 twin-cam in Boston green with the black leather. Looked at a couple of tatty examples before taking the plunge. This one has done 84k with a stamped history and is pretty good mecha...
