Re: Help please - seat bush replacement

Thanks Tilly but I am afraid that I am still at a loss here. When I remove the two T25 torx screws indicated, each arm slides backwards and forwards a few inches before hitting a "stop", but not far enough to expose any T50 screws. Should the sliding arms be able to move further backwards ...

Help please - seat bush replacement

As the weather is fine today I thought that I would attempt the apparently "simple" task of replacing the passenger seat bushes on my Z3. I have received a set of lovely new bushes and I am attempting to follow the Knowledgebase guide. I have removed the seat but I cannot get past the next...

New soft-top fitting

I will be getting a new soft-top fitted to my Z3 and have just contacted Hot Hoods of Romford and booked for them to do the work. They have quoted £575 for a mohair top which is fine, but they have asked me to pay in cash. This seems a bit strange to me and I am rather wary now of going ahead. Does ...

Re: What did you buy your Z3 this week ?

Back in my world, I have bought: a tin of dark green spray paint from Halfords, rubber floor mats, spare set of light bulbs, an engine-oil drain pan, an oil filter wrench, a low-profile trolley jack, a tonneau cover, a tyre pressure gauge, a fluid dual-transfer pump, and a pack of plastic door-panel...

Re: Which trolley jack?

Hold on a minute.............my Missus isn't sure that blowing a couple of grand on the car itself was such a great idea, although now that it's all clean and shiny she's warming to it, but lashing out £540 on a tilting lift thingy is probably pushing things a bit too far  I think I'll just go...

Which trolley jack?

Now that I intend doing all sorts of exciting (basic) maintenance on my new toy, eg brake-pad replacement, engine oil changes etc, I am thinking of investing in an inexpensive trolley jack. My Z3 has not been lowered, but would I still need a low profile trolley jack or will a normal jack fit undern...

No, I'm really grateful for your extremely helpful tips. I'm completely new to all this and I've learnt masses from this forum already.........I think it's brilliant. :P

Re: Z3 roadster first-timer

Yes, good tip. I keep the car in my garage but I dare say it's not exactly warm in there. Can't be too careful!

Re: Z3 roadster first-timer

OK, you've persuaded me. Car taxed and insured for a year so I'm just hoping that this warm, autumnal weather carries on for a bit to tempt me out and about. Nicely cleaned and polished, all I need to do now is get a new roof on it!

Re: Shifting the dreaded Alge.

Actually you're right it does get flooded round there as it's right by the river. It's not so bad in Ware as they open sluice gates to relieve river pressure onto the meads. I'm not sure that l can be bothered to spend too much time with a toothbrush. I'll perhaps have one more go before giving up b...

Re: Shifting the dreaded Alge.

The floods must have been before I moved here. I've lived here since 1982 and there have been no major floods in that time. The Milton wash worked to a certain extent and certainly removed most of the thick stuff. The renovo improved it further and it is a vast improvement, but there are still faint...

Thanks Del. To be honest, and this may sound strange, but I'm really enjoying cleaning and polishing it, and it's already starting to look pretty good.

Re: Shifting the dreaded Alge.

Hi Rooster thanks for the reply. Yes I've ordered some proper stuff so will see how things go. I live in Ware in Hertfordshire........, just near enough to London to get the benefit of it, but far enough away for comfort!

Z3 roadster first-timer

Hi folks. I have just bought my first Z3. It's a 1998 1.9, dark green with 123,000 miles on the clock. It seems to go well enough, but with winter coming up, I may SORN it until the spring which will give me time to sort out the very messy roof, and get the bodywork gleaming. On the other hand.........

Re: Shifting the dreaded Alge.

Hi. This is my first post on the forum. I have this week bought a 1998 1.9 which is my first Z3, and is in great condition except for the roof which is absolutely covered in algae. I will definitely try the Milton treatment as I was thinking that I might have to resort to a new roof! Thanks for the ...
