This is part of the Evap system and by (environmental) country regulations there can be differences in cars built for specific markets The location of these parts is also different for 4 and 6 cyl engines. Thanks for the tip, but I have no symptoms of this as there is no smoke at any time and no oil consumption to speak of. In fact, the oil level increased :shock: , but that was due to the fuel addition. The CCV has been changed and oil and filter has been done now. I won't be driving it too much for ...

Today I bit the bullet and booked Cinders in to a local injection specialist for a check over as it'll probably end up cheaper than trying to hunt down the problem myself . Besides which I suspect an injector or three might be at fault anyway so they would end up having to be checked.

I had a good go at fitting mine with the bar still on but it wasn't happening. I (well Uncle Tony) managed to get the bar off without removing the spare wheel carrier or the exhaust. He remembered that the bar is actually a spring so is pretty flexible

I filled up just before going or the Terraclean and got 24mpg :(, but there was a bit of mucking about with the engine during this tankful and I also changed the CCV hose and MAF boot very recently so would expect an increase just due to that. They did the clean and didn't mention anything untoward ...

Ok, if you say fuel injector pulse widths are according to ECU tables, then I am guessing that injectors are bad or misaligned cams. But that's just wild guess. Others things should throw some error codes IMHO. I haven't looked at them for a couple of weeks, but I don't think the fuel injector puls...

The fuel situation hasn't improved with driving it this week....even though I have been 'pressing on' on some days on others I have been driving more sensibly and the fuel gauge is still dropping very quickly. I think I'm going to give Terraclean a go this coming week to see if that helps any.

My 2.0l has upgraded rear speakers and they sound mint to be fair - not expensive ones either, I've seen them in Hlafords - you'll see them on the journal under my sig. It might well have been your journal I was reading that gave me the idea to look in Halfords for the ICE. I quite like their range...

As I was taking a photo of something else thought I'd take this one too. This is from an M43TU engine and the CCV is circled with an arrow pointing at the other end of the hose where it goes into the rocker cover. When you order the grommets you have to order both the above and below ones and make sure when you put them in that they are seated properly. They are about £7 each from BMW and the part numbers are 65.21.8.411.561 and 562. Sounds like you may be getting to know Eric in the parts dept at Stephen Jam...

Very easy to change on the 4-pot. I've changed both my DISA (noisy and making loud clicking) and the CCV valve. Cars like mine (1998) are getting old and just need bits of renovation doing from time to time. Much as I would like to change my DISA valve the one that was on its way to me has been bro...

Where is the CCV on a 1.9 1997 engine located? good advice I would guess Soputhernboy's link has helped you here? I think we have different engines (mine is an M43TU) so they are placed slightly differently, but easy to find- you should have a rubber hose coming out from the top of your rocker cove...

I am one of those who drives around with the roof down on any sunny day just for the hell of it . With the excellent heater and wind deflector I only need the one coat.... . That's why I was asking about the need for a hardtop.... I get the different look aspect.

Anyone used aftermarket sensors and would you recommend them, as they are a lot cheaper than BMW original parts. I did my rears recently and they put up a good fight meaning I couldn't get them out in one piece . There is no locating groove, they just seize solid due to where they are and exposure to the elements.
