Re: How much do you like your Z3

Thanks BertieJ. I would be very surprised if anyone who has owned and / or driven a Z3 would be able to find any real fault with them: it is truly a remarkable car and I have to admit I'm hopelessly in love with mine!

Re: How much do you like your Z3

I never rely on any of the so-called 'driver aids' as they are far from infallible. I firmly believe the overall standard of driving decreases proportionately to these devices: people drive on the bumper of the car in front, believing that their ABS will stop them on a sixpence. Etc. Etc. That aside...

Prior to taking my aged old ma for her trip up to the Lakes, I discovered that the passenger seat wouldn't lift electrically. Ordinarily, this wouldn't bother me too much but as she is a wizened diminutive 5' tall now and much of our time is spent driving around I thought it might be handy if she co...

I had the same during my recent trip to the Lakes; turns out I simply hadn't turned the fuel cap all the way back on until it clicked into place. Having read a post by another member some time ago regarding persistent fuel smell, I was worried I might be in for the same trials and tribulations he ha...

Thanks everyone for replying! I checked the owner's manual and, in fact, it would appear I got my sums wrong! My consumption agreed almost exactly with BMW figures: 37mpg which, frankly, is gobsmacking. Of course, having my 96 year-old mother along for the ride might have had something to do with it...

Or for you yanks: gas mileage (although how you manage to fit gas tanks to a Z is quite beyond me...) I have just enjoyed a short stay in the Lake District, enthusiastically threading Zeberdee through the rigours of Hardknott and Wrynose passes as well numerous other twisty narrow lanes that the Z3 ...

I don't recommend you try doing it yourself as they are bonded in. Job for the professionals I would suggest. As you have a donor screen, if you could find a fitter who was happy to do it 'in their spare time' for a 'tip' that might save you having to go through your insurance.

Reality check - Z style!

I had to drive my mother's Astra this morning. Jeez, it was all over the road! Made me realise just how good the Z is! I've had the car just over a month now, drive it everyday to work which is the highlight of my day. I just love it. Off up to the Lakes in a month and can't wait to tackle Hardknott...

Yep, it was that same plastic retainer that caused my locking issue. Luckily I have a few spares kicking around from my old Range Rover which I am busy building a whole new bespoke body for. Fitted a treat and so far works fine. Sorry you had drill through but at least the badge covers it and should...

Just out of interest, I checked my door tops as a result of this thread. The driver's side is loose! The dealer I bought the car from had to replace the regulator as the window wouldn't go up or down and I guess they didn't tighten something back up properly. In any event, Zeb's going in on Tuesday ...

Re: Advice required - central locking problem

Check the two torx screws that hold the boot lock assembly in place haven't come loose, allowing it to move freely as this will trigger the central locking mechanism and might thus interfere with it. Seems unlikely, I have to say, but worth a look.

I would like to get into the boot this weekend. It has my INPA kit in and it's needed. What's INPA kit? It's the enduring curse of the low-slung sports car. In the old days it wasn't too bad: the only vehicle likely to piss you off thus was a somewhat myopic Series Land Rover but now it would seem most new cars are getting bigger - and taller - each successive model: they are all becoming a bloody nui...

Re: Need help for interior color

I'm not terribly keen on the two-tone interiors; I think they look a bit gauche and detract from the sheer class of the Z3. Mine is black with tan interior (like my 944 was) which works very well and makes the cockpit a lot less gloomy and claustrophobic if it too was black. Not sure about the spott...

Re: How much do you like your Z3

I've had my 2001 2.2 for about a month now and thus far I am extremely impressed with it. The Z3 has enormous presence; it's one of those very rare cars that looks good from any angle - like the Ferrari 308 / 328 / 512 Boxer. The interior is pure class: simple yet functional and built like a Porsche...

Good morning one and all. I have recently become the slightly disbelieving proud owner of a 2.2 Roadster and I have to say, thus far I'm mightily impressed.
