On an early Zed the alarm is likely to be an after-market version (or at least non BMW), so wouldn't show up on the diagnostics? I'd take it in to alarm specialist and get them to reduce the sensitivity and check out the sensor. Alarms on soft tops are tempermental at the best of times, particularly...

This isn't a problem I've heard of with Z3s before (or with BMWs generally). Sounds like you should get a dealer to have a look at it. If you bought it from a dealer they should certainly sort it out for you.

Sounds like a very good price to me!

When did it last have an oil change? The service lights on a BMW can give a false sense of security if the car does very low mileage. Oil should be changed once a year regardless of mileage.

This is one for Shirley, she takes Charlie out in hers all the time! (not a doberman though!) :D

My dog is small enough to go in a travel box on the passenger seat, so she's no hassle really. I'd be worried that she'd jump out of the car if she wasn't in a box!

Ok, whats the best product for removing bugs from paintwork? I'm guessing the majority view will be Meguiar's Bug and Tar Remover (which I couldn't find in Halfords), but I'd be interested in hearing about other recommendations.

I may give M11 POW's washing up liquid suggestion a try. :D

Try Swifts Autocare in Sheffield. I haven't used them personally, as I stick to the main dealer (Sytners) at mo. Swifts specialise in BMWs and they are the local agent for Superchips. They seem to have a good reputation.

Sorry Nicky, I don't have any experience of Supaguard. Personally, I'd be wary of putting any aftermarket coating on mine. Hi Nicky Silver is the classic colour for people who don't like washing their car! Dark colours like black (and my Montreal blue) will need frequent washing. Rain spots can make it look very grubby very quickly! I think most people would agree that its best not to put a soft top through a car wash. ...

Hi Swacd A fitting kit is definitely needed (unless your car has been 'prepped' already)! The has been lots of discussion of this in the forums in the last few months. Try doing a search. They occasional crop up on eBay, but I've never seen them at a bargain price. Other colours come up for almost nothing sometimes.

The best advice is to test drive both and decide for yourself! But be warned, you might find it difficult to resist the extra power and the sound of the straight six that comes with the 2.8. Hi Dabs Welcome to the forums. There are plenty of 1.9 owners on here that love their cars! You should be able to pick up a 1.9 for £7.5 - 9K depending on age and mileage. Mid sized engines came later, so are higher priced. The next step up would be a 2.8, which you may find from £9 - 10K for an ear...
