Fair cop, it was my Alpina, but not the Z1. Mine (Reg. EAZ1) stayed at home yesterday !

The 450 sold in the States were all marketed as "BMW Alpina Roadster V8"as they were here.

Yes that's correct but felt I was unlikely to get away with putting "Alpina Roadster V8" onto the number plate here in the UK !!

Hi Dieter, lets try for Gaydon and yes, I bought it to keep my Z1 company. Only 8 originally imported into UK by Synter of which 3 were in Alpina Blue. This is the actual car that Clarkson was so kind to on Top Gear !!

Saw this Alpina and thought of you Dieter, the two would make a great photo shoot !! How about getting them both to Gaydon in August ?

Hope to be at Gaydon this year in one form or other ! The question is do I bring the Z1 or the Z8. As my wife will be away that w/e and I haven't yet perfected the art of driving both cars at once, I have to make a decision.

Many thanks for info. When you say conventional dual mode StarTac, I guess you're referring to the larger 130 model and not the smaller chunkier V50 / V3690 which was used by BMW in holder on dash in other models? Also where is the code typed in as can't be via the phone keyboard ??

Great, but only like them when they refer to the vehicle. Am fortunate enough to have EAZ1 on the Z1, GBZ8 on guess what, and V8CAR on XK.
With the way prices seem to be going I look on them as investments and would rather have them than the money siiting in a bank!!

Can anyone tell me which version of the Motorola StarTac phone is compatible with the Z8 inbuilt phone system??? Neither the dealers or BMW seem to be able to help, but it was 3 or 4 years ago after all!!!!

Have just taken Z1 in for MOT and for the first time in 12 years the "tester" failed it due to "no rear fog light fitted" and "side repeaters" missing. Bureacracy gone mad ....... despite the fact model never fitted with them.
Anyone had similar problems!! Beware !!!
