Re: Broken suspension springs ??
I had my first MOT spring failure this year on my trusty Astra wagon. I bought a new pair, watched a YouTube video, and replaced both sides in under 1 hour myself1 Just jacked up the rear, let handbrake off and then there is enough room to wiggle the spring out, and pop the new one in.

Re: Making hard decision
Hi Tilly, can you let me know about your Z3M when the time comes, I could well be in the market for a LHD example! I should really be encouraging you to keep it, I still have my 92 325i convertible plus my Z3!

Re: Control arm replacement
I'm just about to embark on the same job! I too have got to the point where everything is disconnected, except the central ball joint. This is mainly due to my 22mm socket being just too chunky to fit on the nut with the knuckle joint above it, so I'm in the process of buying a smaller profile socke...

Re: Import Z3s
The Japanese tend to maintain their cars to a very high standard, always clean and original dealer servicing, I'd have no problem buying a Japanese import at all.

Re: silver z3 53 plate whitchurch
I imported a new Z3 in 1998 from Australia, and remember at the DVLA there was a discussion as to what plate it should receive. Someone in the office in North London said it was the build date and they needed that info from BMW, but she was then overruled by another who said it was the date I purcha...

Welcome!
All those faults sound like normal running an old car issues! Does seem like a never ending restoration, but with the plus that most Z3s don't depreciate so all should work out.

I think 96-98 cars had the plug, but not 99 on. Not 100% sure that its fact, but that's what I have found.

Re: Wanted Z3 Roadster
The rule of being a dealer in cars, is that you buy as cheap as possible, you remove anything from the car that you can make a few extra £££s on, you give it a valet, then offer it for sale for the highest price you think you can get away with. First customer will come in and pick holes in the car (...

Yes, it costs a little time to put on, then take off again, a minute or 2, but still good to do if you are taking a leisurely drive out.

Re: Wanted Z3 Roadster
I'm a big fan of Dakar Yellow, and went to see this one last week, it looked delicious, and the garage said that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a car just a couple of years old. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201701131270897?postcode=kt130rz&colour=Yellow&make=...

Re: Z3 Tonneau Cover
Every car had one of these from new, but were hardly used, taken out of the car, and then lost.
Makes a Z3 look complete with the hood down, well worth buying one.

Re: Wanted - Fiji Green hardtop
I'm still hopeful of finding one. When I had my original Dakar Z3 in 1999, I was thinking of buying a hardtop for it then. iirc the deal with BMW was that you could have the hardtop for £1199, and the fitting kit was an extra £125 fitted. Common colours were in stock, but the Dakar yellow top was on...
