I've emailed RAID UK to see what the price is all in for a 365mm wheel, hub adapter and the cable kit for later cars... will report the results.

I remember coming across the dual-stage airbag comment; anyone know how you can tell?

The RAID wheels are big in the Porsche circles but there are lots of companies that will supply a stiched leather airbag centre with Porsche on it; never seen that for BMW though...

If you want to keep your airbag... and you do... the only option that I'm aware of is RAID. They're big in the Porsche world.

They will fit but the rears will be the wrong offset and need spacers (they'll be lost inside the arches otherwise). HR hubcentric spacers are the way to go if you must.

The fronts are correct and will fit / look fine.

Personally I prefer the Z wheels.

I had a 1.9 a few years back and had 17" BBS RK Wheels; I think that is the best size.

Go for a 225/45/17 tyre (tire) all 'round - I recommend a set of P-Zeros.

Check other posts here but it is most likely to be: a) rear top mounts - get some new ones from BMP Design not OEM and fit yourself in an hour b) handbrake cable - easy to sort c) weight in the rear bumper - vibration damper in the rear bumper has been known to knock. Bubble wrap has been suggested....

I have 2 front S50 M Roadster / Coupe wheels in BMW boxes original finish NOT refurbished.

Slight marks from the tyre monkey removing the tyres that were on them briefly but only very minor and no kerbing / damage other than that.

According to ETK the springs and shocks on the S50 models were interchangeable between roadster and coupe.

On the S54 the front shocks and springs and the rear springs are the same but the shocks are a different part.

I've heard lots of stories to the contrary but that's the info on the database.

On a genuine BMW battery for the \\\m there is a breather pipe that pokes out a small hole under the battery.

The battery is not tied down with a bracket, you look like you have it fitted correctly; just install the plastic cover and install the two nuts to hold it in place.

If you have the money (and I have kids instead) then get some HRE wheels. Get 3 series offset at the front and 5 series offset at the rear (with 3 series bolt pattern of course which you can do on custom wheels) and you'll retain your dish. 18" is the way to go IMO http://www.bmwmstyle.co.uk/Al...

These RAID wheels are big in Porsche circles and a quick flick through GT magazine will lead you to quite a few dealers.

My question is - what will the insurance company think??? It's one thing putting some different wheels on; but changing the airbag?

I've had one for a couple of years now. I called him up and chatted for quite a while when I ordered - nice guy.

The product is amazing. He's invented a locking mechanism that frankly puts the OEM knob to shame and doesn't involve any rubish grub screws.
