Nice thought! The rears were replaced before I picked it up as an approved used car on 16,000 in early '04.

My car is nearly run in!
Pleased to report my 02 will soon have passed a major milestone, 30,000 miles from new. It was a bit of a pain replacing those original front tyres last summer!

Off topic: the 5 series driver
I'm sure I've mentioned this before but if so it just continues to strenghen my theory. Are indicators an option on 5 series? Do they market 5 series as the ultimate (bad) drivers machine? My daily grind North up the M1 from the M25 invariably involves some less than courteous idiot in a 5. Usually ...

Spot it - I've driven past one of the sites pictured, a real sneaky one too. One of the early pictures with a van parked on the traffic island in amongst all the roadsigns (Stocklake industry etc) It is a regular in the centre of Aylesbury, on the one way system. For once it is probably a good place...

Fog lights
Now cars have automatic everything (parking sensors, radar, etc) why can't they invent automatic fog lamps? No button or switch for muppets to press the instant a vague misty day comes along, even though you can still read the model badges on the Ford Sierra 6 cars in front of you. No user sensitivi...

I don't think that nitrous bottle is connected to the fuel system. Its there for use as laughing gas to convince the passenger they really are having fun.

Hi - Yes you'll need to insure it whilst it belongs to you. Most comp policies will give you third party only cover for any car not belonging to you. Top Gear Survey- the old Z3/Z4 chestnut
So whats up with you Z4 owners? Not got the data (or the inclination) to look into the reasons but why was the Z3 8th in the 2003 Top Gear survey and the Z4 languishing down at 42? 96 % of Z3 drivers said they would buy again - Doesn't look as if the figure would be that high for the 4 Looking at th...

Hi Alfie If you have the time a way of breaking up the motorways is to take the M3/New Forest/Dorchester/then semi coastal road - It may not be the obvious route but you may avoid the M4 out of London, M4/5 interchange, M5 jams that can crop up on busy weekends. Agree with the Exmoor tip, head up fr...

Given their odd looks they may be better suited to a Chris Bangle designed car but they look like they might be an answer.

:rtm: Hi- sorry to add to the seemingly endless posts about hardtops but at least this one is about lifting the lid. I've taken my top off, put it in the bag and don't know what to do next.
