One side or both :?: Jack up the rear and remove the wheels (don't forget to chock the fronts :!: ). Then get a friend to operate the brakes so that you can try to locate the source of the noise. From your original post it sounds like you might only get the noise once from doing it this way though :?:

Most fuel here is 95ron, so maybe that's what you've been using. You're right, huge difference :!: Swap back and see if that cures it.
Optimax is 98ron, BP Ultimate (new improved :!: :roll: ) is 97. However some Tesco's stores now sell 99ron Super, so you could try that.

Either way, your car is too late a model to be affected, so don't worry.

Less publicised was the fact that most bore-wear problems surfaced at 20-30k. Once an engine is at 50k+ it is unlikely to be one of the problem units.
