They look like an SUV tread, also, the even block size may be noisier than a mixed size block pattern. Their treadwear number is 300, which is bloody hard compared with a grippy tyre like the Advan (Yokohama) AD07 which is 180. The trackday favourite AO48 has a treadwear number of 60! If you just change the shockers you can not change the ride height. Even a fairly small amount of pressure on the shocker will make it collapse, albeit slowly. What matters is the VIN - is a BMW or an Alpina?

Alpina Cars do not keep the original BMW VIN. That's what makes the difference.

Jet, I always KNEW Fjord blue would look fantastic!

I note that mine appears to be fitted with E36 M3 items. Hmm I presume you did that in your conversion! The E36 has 5 stud hubs, but the Z1 has 4 stud. The rears are special. Z1 only (except I think the very late cars might have used something different) The rears have the disk (rotor) dimension of the E30, but the handbrake drum is E36 sized. Still available from factory, but they only make them in batches, so sometimes there's a delay of a couple...

It needs freeing off.
Do not use WD40, it tends to evaporate leaving a sticky layer.

Use something like brake cleaner, which will wash out all the stickystiff, and then use switch cleaner which will re-lubricate without leaving a residue

I'm guessing but.. When the door is fully shut, the lock bar rotates and the door then hangs on it, and the electrics are disconnected. If the door doesn't go up far enough, then the lock shft may not rotate enough, and the door actually slips off the latch, effectively then starting the opening seq...
