I was a big supporter of Ultraseal, bear in mind that the gel does clump after a while and will need to be replaced.

Welcome to the Forum. Regarding the roof, the brake pedal has to be pressed and the front section of the roof raised whilst pressing the roof button. The hood motor is located in the boot, LH side behind the trim panel, there is a small T shaped key that engages the motor, if the motor is heard work...

Re: Z3 2.8 Rear end conversion, reducing 2.8 width to 1.9 sp

It's a lot of effort to get a wider rim to fit. As you suggest, torque figures are different on the 1.9 parts so I guess this may compromise the intended fitment on a 2.8 Easiest way as I see it, fit a complete 'M' spec rear that will handle the 2.8 torque specs or go for the complete lower spec 1.9...

Re: Which gearbox oil?

I'll check tomorrow if I still have some of what I used and will check the specs.

If Westway and Redline meet the specs they should be ok.

The CDV isn't a valve as such, it's a restriction in the end fitting of the hose. The braided type as sold by Earls has a larger bore.

Go with Westway or Redline if they meet the specs required.

I would add that changing my gearbox oil did relieve the notchy feel.

I used an ATF which seemed strange at the time.

An indicator (or any other light) is merely an indication of intent or awareness of position. I was always taught that you never pull out on anyone who is indicating to turn before you (E.G. left into the road you are leaving) until they have actually turned as they could change their mind.
