Re: M44 DISA Valve Diagnosis

1. The closest I have seen to a recommended bench test is the following link - that you need to have vacuum first and then apply the 12V - and here he also experienced something similar to me - that it seems to do something first time and then just clicking of the solenoid. http://www.bimmerfest.com...

Re: M44 DISA Valve Diagnosis

Just to be clear. Looking at the pictures the movement/play was moving the flap towards and away from you up and down (and not left and right). I probably could have fixed it by knocking the ring downwards and securing it in place. BTW - I have not found a definitive link of somebody who shows a DIS...

Re: M44 DISA Valve Diagnosis

I removed my DISA and all looks fine 315kkm (PN 1247202). Compared to a newer used DISA (110kmile from ebay $50 - newer PN 1438404), the plastics etc. and vac integrity (sucking from the small hole on the bottom) were the same - so there was no immanent disaster awaiting (and it's been like this for...

Re: "Adjuster Unit DISA" / Fuel Consumption

Just got a 110kmile DISA to replace my noisy one (315kkm). Now quiet. Had stable consumption at 10km/l. First tank after replacement was also 10km/l - so a working noisy DISA does not affect consumption.

I'll have a look tomorrow and take some pics if I see anything.
As it only gets "activated" at 4200rpm my guess is that it's fluttering at all the lower rpms without doing anything.

M44 DISA Valve Diagnosis

My DISA has been clicking quite loudly for a while and I'd like to take it out and have a look before I replace it. Has anyone removed a clicking M44 DISA and diagnosed the problem? My leaks were via the door cards over the foot ledge. Previous tinkerers simply removed the plastic sheet liners in the door cards. I cut my own from thick plastic bag material and siliconed in place.

Re: "Adjuster Unit DISA" / Fuel Consumption

False alarm.... My next tank gave 9km/l and the one after was 10 (my standard). So it was crappy fuel. I then did a tank with an added a fuel cleaner (I have bottle of Redline Si-1 on the shelf) - it gave me just above 10 - so no real difference. So we're back on a fuel consumption of 10km/l of 95 o...

At 310k km I think it's worthwhile to bite the bullet and get a new DISA. (although a new engine would be a treat as my oil seals are hitting the dust one by one and I have a micro water leak in the head)

"Adjuster Unit DISA" / Fuel Consumption

In my last tank, for no obvious reason (like idling in traffic), I had a very uncharacteristic fuel consumption (from 10km/liter down to 7.5km/liter). No codes (eg Lambda Oxygen Sensor). Having a quick look under the bonnet, I noticed a louder that usual clicking from the Adjuster Unit. I'll wait to...

Bottom line: It took 1.5 hours to run through the 6 wet and dry pads with the drill. I can say that as shown above I got rid of most of the orange peel ripple. But TBH while it is much better than before I started (as also shown by pictures above) there is still about 30% of the ripple left (similar...

Almost there - As described in the last message - I got both 800 and 1000 SIAAIR wet & dry pads. Had a go with the following gear. All the pads are SIAAIR. I've never used these before or the Farecla G3 advanced liquid formula. Re: Scratches in vinyl rear window

You were right not to go more coarse than 1500. Now that all the big scratches are removed you just need to polish out the fine scratches - the Autosol paste should work well. It's hard do buff them all out by hand - you may want to do it with a buffer or a hand drill with a wool cover.

Same supplier as my link - but they are currently out of stock of 53mm.
The diameter of my 3 openings is 53.5mm so the 54mm rings are too big and the 52 are too smal.

You would need to replace the complete piece of foam. Take a short piece of garden hose and use it as a stethoscope. You should be able to locate the source of the whining.
