put a tea towel round it for some grip & twist to the left or... there is a lip where the ariel joins the base about 10 mm up, try to get some oil in there & leave it until tomorrow

sorry to jump in but i think its relevant.
I have an alarm but, when its set off only the indicators flash. how do i get the alarm to go off properly i think its something to do with key button pushing in a special sequence

I would have thought that if there is no drain hole then the fix would be to stop the water getting in in the first place. What's the rubber seal like on the filler flap?

sorry to be a pain chaps,

Does the mirror just pop off. it gets really hot & i;m going to be driving in 45 degree heat in a couple of weeks. I think I'll try to disconnect it. I can always reconnect it at a later date.

Thanks for the info everyone, it gets really hot, the heating element on the other mirror (passenger side) doesn't seem to work. Is it easy to get the glass off? I may disconnect the heating element before something nasty happens :shock:

....and had to sit down. This is when the shock occurred. The cost from my local BMW dealer is £640! Jake I paid £750.00 for a part exhaust which failed on my VW Touran.. I think all cars are a bleedin fortune to repair these days, Thankfully we have BMW's which are beautifully made & reliable ...
